Elan had their conference call shortly following Biogen's. They did not say much more than Biogen with respect to Tysabri. Our notes:
- The market uptake of Tysabri has thus far exceeded all expectations after just nine weeks on the market.
- Approximately 3000 patients are already on Tysabri, with multiples of that number waiting to start.
- Users are coming from all three categories: switchers from other treatments, dropouts who are not on therapy, and newly diagnosed.
- Launch of Tysabri in the European Union for both Chron's Disease and MS in late 2005 or early 2006.
- Tysabri AFFIRM (monotherapy) data will be available in April at the AAN meeting.
- Elan is in discussions with BiogenIdec over whether they make an endpoint success announcement in the meantime.
- Phase II data for Tysabri Rheumatoid Arthritis indication by mid year.
