Re: Provigil Ineffective for MS Fatigue; Aspirin Might Help (Score: 1)

I don''t believe it either. What a load of crap! I suffered fatigue symptoms for years prior to the MS diagnosis. I tried that anti viral stuff but it didn''t help. I had to plead with my neurologist to let me try Modafinil back in 2002 and it was like night and day for me; it brought me back to life and I couldn''t function without it. Now I can work a full time job and none of my co-workers even know I have MS. My energy level is very close to what it was 10 years ago.

I have to wonder if there is a hidden agenda here. Millions of people, who have no medical condition to justify it, want to try Modafinil because they believe it can be used as a substitute for sleep. There has been an epidemic of improper use, especially among the long haul trucker community.

There are two approaches available to convince people to stop using a non-addictive/non-narcotic substance:

1. negative - serious side effects
2. positive - ineffective drug - wasting money/time

There are no known adverse side effects with Modafinil; no reason not to use it, if it works.
Perhaps the medical establishment is trying to defame Modafinil to lessen its attraction with the general public, and MS patients with fatigue (most of us) will suffer as a result. If doctors (they are human after all) begin to believe it doesn''t work, who''s going to believe us?

If they take my interferon away I could still funtion but if they take my Modafinil away my life as I know it would be over. I hope everyone who has tried Modafinil writes a comment about this one. And even if you haven''t tried it, you might need it someday -- so write. This is a quality of life issue that affects us all.
