Hi EVERYONE!
I'm new to this site and MS. I'm not diagnosed yet but I know I have it. My eye doctor after checking my eyesight said to my surprise that I might have MS and to check it out. I didn't do it because I didn't have the means to go and see a Neurologist. But since then, I lost sight of my left eye and slowly degenerating the right eye. My hands shake at times and I'm experiencing extreme fatigue and lots of memory loss, specially short term memory. I get these shooting pains on the side of my ribs starting from my back and several other symptoms. So...I looked at the internet and sure enough I have the symptoms of ms. My husband left me and I'm 50 and alone now. I need your help.
I'm confused as to the course of diet I should take. I looked at Dr. David Wheldon's youtube video and Dr. Terry Wahls organic meat base products without LEGUMES plus studied Dr. John McDougal on the Starch Diet Solution. I'm interested in knowing what Dr. David Whendon's suggested diet to his wife while treating it with antibiotics? The BIG QUESTIONS IS... Should I go Starch base diet or Dr. Terry Wahls Organic meats? What does Dr. David Wheldon say? Please help. I'm so confused about the diet regimen? HELP!

So sorry to hear you've got it, but aren't you glad there's something you can actually DO for it?! I got my diagnosis the same way: optic neuritis and luckily my eye doctor was familiar with MS. I got on this protocol within six or seven weeks of diagnosis and I really believed it saved my life. It certainly saved the QUALITY of my life.

I never did anything to change my diet, but I'm sure Sarah will be along soon to advise you as to her husband's recommendations. Also, have you read Dr. Wheldon's site? http://www.davidwheldon.co.uk/ms-treatment.html

Yes, I am glad there's help and I did read his website but nothing about diet. I live in Chicago and don't have insurance but I'll get some assistance now that I need it. How did you get your doctor to start Dr. Wheldon's antibiotics treatment?

My doctor is just outside of Chicago. Check your private messages in about five minutes. :-D

Hi I'm new to this website. I'm 50 years old, no children and my husband left me. I only have my mother to come by and help me out. Your conversations are very helpful. I need to start the antibiotic treatments but before I do, I want to know if anybody has anything from Dr. David W diet for his wife or what he recommends. Does she get on this website or is there anyway we can contact them and ask them? Hi MacKintosh, thanks for responding. How do I check my private msg?

Please Help.

They carry everything and deliver to your door. No reason to wait if you cant get a script. Gp referred me to a neoro, who said the mainstream drugs dont work and cost more than i make a year, which of the 6 do i want? Many many hours of research later i inquired about mino, she agreed to a 1 week scrip. Many many hours of research later i decide the symptomatology looks more like common symptoms from several causes than a disease. Many etc i come across a couple abx routines and also the above link. I decided to put myself in wheldon and ldn while waiting for an appt with an ms neoro. So i have boxes of antibiotics im working through.

I felt ok before antibiotics, felt bad ever since i started. Not horrible, nothing like what most ms folks deal with day to day. Just run down and bad. According to 3 neoros my brain is perfect, according to specialist its not. Theres only 1 spot that hasnt changed in 5 years that eferyone else says is normal, but dawsons fingers.

In any case ive been in more car wrecks, sports injuries and competitive fights, and street fights than everyone you know combined, so theyre amazed. But i have damage in my spine, which scares me, a lot. I have 1 day to go on my current pulse, 6 month mri in nov, hoping to see a change. Flagyl makes me feel really run down by the end and i have a horrible taste in my mouth the entire pulse. Im going to be irritated if im beating myself up for no gains. My gp is a good man, he knows im doing my own thing and as of last week offered to write any script i want. Ill take him up when i start running low if there is (hopefully not) the need.

And hopefully if what im doing fails the fda stops being an idiot and approves lemtrada soon. I want this shit dead. I dont do bandaids.

Back to the point, there are options.

Cookie, I am Dr Wheldon's wife and no, I have no special diet except I have always eaten what I consider quite healthy food.

I am sorry that your husband has left you: it is quite common with this disease. Send me a private message if you want to know more........................Sarah

Going off topic with a quck threadjack. When i first started i broke doxy into twice a day and took everything in the mornings, except the flagyl taken throughout the day. I was guaranteed to feel like garbage for the first few hours of work pretty much every day. I eventually started taking everything before bed, figure i can feel bad while i sleep. Ive had 2-3 nights i woke up to empty my stomach and generally feel more tired than usual, and if i drink at all the next day i feel completely run down. Which sucks because i like a couple glasses of wine before bed. And by day 5 of flagyl im really running out of steam, and recover a bit once im off. And a bad taste 24/7 during the pulse itself. Its otherwise pretty non-eventfull, and the more i read of others experiences the more of an oddball i find mine.

So quick ? for sl, any problems with taking the full doxy dose once a day instead of every 12ish hours? Ive been on the 3 antis for i think 6 months, been doing this schedule for at least 3.

No problem if you are taking antibiotics for a long period. It is a different matter if your prescription is only for a few days. David told me that when he saw me assiduously taking things spaced out: taking a little pot of things into a restaurant if we were going out to dinner!

Thanks. Last day of pulse 6 tomorow. 5th full one, and month 8 overall. My first pulse was only 1 day, too many horror stories. I hit full course of all else within a week of starting. Nothing major from the git go which worries me a bit. Im looking forward to getting this taste out of my mouth.

There are many horror stories about people's pulses but people who just go smoothly either don't bother posting or get forgotten about. I only had one bad pulse but just got somewhat depressed each time, so as well as being glad to get the taste out of my mouth, I was glad to leave the depression which did go quickly!

Hopefully thats whats happening. I guess having my 5 year old send me to the er might have been a good thing. If it caught things before there was too much damage i guess its the best of a bad situation.

I fully expected to feel worse throughout and really bad on the pulses. I feel worse than i did before i started and had several oddball things the first month, but its a consistent worse so its basically normal if that makes any sense. 1 more flagyl, tonight and this ones in the books. I feel so run down by day 5 its not funny. I was hanging doors in my man cave tonight and had to really slow down, i was feeling drunk but not in a good way. A short break, a little tile work and now im sitting in my tub waiting to finish this before i kick on netflix and the whirlpool:)

Im supposed to have follow up mri s next month but im hitting a roadblock with the neoro receptionist. The notes are wrong and she will only schedule me for a chest xray, even though she admits shes never seen that request from a ms specialist before. Talking to her is like talking to my dog while holding a cookie, only 1 thing in the entire universe exists  im thinking ill end up sitting in front of the dr with nothing to talk about except removing the roadblock.

You are taking a good step to start the protocol of a doctor. Doctor knows many things well than general people. so iy=t is better thinking for you, I think.
