Mojo I started avonex 2 weeks ago and had some achiness for a couple days.It wasn't so bad. Of course the first 2 doses were 1/2 doses so we will see how this week with a full dose goes. I hope it was tolerable for you.I take motrin before I inject and it seemed to help
GOD BLESS!!

Ibuprofen seems to help more with Avonex's side effects than the acetominophen that Biogen recommends. If side effects are a problem, then you might want to try taking some at the time of your shot and then every 4 to 6 hours after that as needed (usually not more than one 24 hour period).

A point of interest, I'm on the trial for the new Pegylated interferon from Biogen. The study instructions state to take Ibuprofen before and for 24 hours after the jab.

It looks like Ibuprofen is gaining favour

Hi
Thanks for the support. Ok I have done 2 doses now, in the uk we start off with full doses!!!! Unfortunately I am allergic to ibuprofen so have had to make do with paracetamol and to be honest it hasn't been too bad!!!
good luck to those of you just starting.

Some people also find naproxen, e.g., Aleve, to be helpful.
