 I dont know how many people may know this but I spoke with someone from biogen idec and they told me that the side effects of u mix and pre filled, may be less when you use the u mix because of the preservatives in the pre filled. the woman i care for switched back and is doing well, on the pre filled the side effects were so bad she couldnt even go to the bathroom by herself.

ok so what if people with ms stopped injesting preservatives all together?
just a thought!

"U mix"...
Quote:
30 mcg Lyophilized Powder Vial
A vial of AVONEX ® is formulated as a sterile, white to off-white lyophilized powder for intramuscular injection after reconstitution with supplied diluent (Sterile Water for Injection, USP). Each vial of reconstituted AVONEX ® contains 30 mcg of Interferon beta-1a; 15 mg Albumin (Human), USP; 5.8 mg Sodium Chloride, USP; 5.7 mg Dibasic Sodium Phosphate, USP; and 1.2 mg Monobasic Sodium Phosphate, USP, in 1.0 mL at a pH of approximately
7.3.

Bassically, it comes in a vial freeze dried in a physiologic buffer commonly referred to as PBS or phosphate buffered saline.

unlike the prefilled, it is preservative free, I dont take it, I am a personal assistant to a client with ms who does and the pre filled made her so sick and weak she couldnt even go to the bathroom by herself, now that she is back to the freeze dried , she is basically side effect free for the next 12 hours. also her side effects on the pre filled lasted up to 36 hours, rescource that told me @ preservatives making it worse was a customer support rep at biogen idec.
