Questions about treatment in Poland

Post by GM »

Hello! I'm new to the site, but have found it absolutely invaluable. My husband has contacted Dr. Simka and has been put on his waiting list, but of course we have numerous questions and were hoping some of you could help.
First of all, we heard mentioned that Dr. Simka is visiting Vancouver in February. We live in the area and would love to have more details about his visit!
Secondly, it is my guess that a follow-up visit to Poland would be required. Can anyone confirm this? Is it included in the original price?
Also, can anyone tell us what kind of doctor Dr. Simka is? Vascular? Interventional radiologist? It seems a little insane to travel to Poland with no idea what this doctor generally does. Can anyone refer us to further information?
Thank you so much!

Hi GM
Dr. Simka is not licenced in canada. i am scheduled in june...no news of date yet either. he now has assistants answering his emails, and i gather by the time i get there it will be a different scenario than at present, which will include a higher price. i think better, as the taxis and hotel will be included. dr simka is the radiolologist and the surgeon is dr. ludyka (sp?).

This is making me nervous. I'm being completely selfish and I apologise. Dr Simka is in Vancouver on the 7th Feb, yet has sent me an appt for the 9th Feb. Will he make it??

Claire, He does not do the operation. Dr Ludgya does. (don't worry Dr Ludgya is an amazing dr, you will be in safe hands)

Thanks LR1234, that makes me feel better. But who does the Doppler and MRV then. I've got those on the 9th?. Is Dr Simka handing over to someone new now??

Claire, I did read somewhere - can't remember if it was Facebook or here - that Dr. Simka is here in Vancouver from Feb. 25 - March 9. It should be no problem for your surgery date. I was just hoping that someone could confirm these dates or let us know if there is any opportunity to hear him speak.

Hi Clare Parry!
I understand you are nervous but you really do not have to worry at all. Dr. Ludyga knows how to do Doppler and he does it very often and very well. He did it couple of times to me without Dr. Simka. You can be 100 % sure with this.
As for MRV - it is anyway in other hospital in other town - in Zabrze. Dr. Hartel will do it as he has always been doing it. He is young and nice as well.
Dr. Simka is not a radiologist anyway, he is a specialist in general surgery and specialist in angiology.
He does open operations on veins especially on legs.
You can at least look at the pictures on his web site:
http://strona.simka.nazwa.pl
Of course, as we know, he knows how to do Doppler USG test to detect CCSVI.

GM, I'm sorry. I can't confirm the dates for you but Erikas post here explains nicely about Dr Simka and the team set up. I'm sorry - looking back I've hijacked your thread. I have one more question for Erika...

Erika, will Dr Hartel spend some time going through the results with me? Thanks for your post. It was very helpful.

I also am scheduled for treatment on February 10 when Dr S is likely out of town, but I understand Dr L is equally capable...I find it ironic that the only benefit I got from 3 years jabbing myself with Rebif was to accumulate enough travel points to fly to Poland for the treatment. The Universe will unfold as it should.

I am afraid not because he has next patient immidiatelly after you so he must sit in front of MR PC. Unless you ask him for it, wait until he finishes and if he still has time he can do it.
Anyway it takes some time even for him to look at all your images.
But he gives you a CD and some big printed pictures - Dr. Ludyga must see it before the operation - those are the critical pictures - I think even you will see diferrences between left and right part.
