"Medicated" Stents?

Postby eric593 » Fri Feb 12, 2010 12:29 am

I just heard on Larry King tonight the doctor talking about the stents that Bill Clinton just had placed in his artery.

He mentioned that medicated stents may last longer than regular stents.

I wonder if this info is relevant to stenting veins as well, and I wonder what medication they use for it.

I think there's some uncertainty whether the medicated stents are better or worse than the regular kind. The medicated coating prevents buildup on the stent. As far as I know they've only been used in arteries.
