My MRV image from False Creek

Post by happy_canuck »

Hi there,

I was scanned at False Creek two days ago! The ultrasound showed an irregular right jugular when I am lying down (slow and irregular flow) and a "weird" left jugular when sitting up, it doesn't drain and collapse like it should. Instead, it traps some blood in there, which keeps the vein rounded. The blood doesn't drain and doesn't move. As I said, w-e-i-r-d (the doctor's words, not mine!).

I don't have the written report, but I couldn't resist a look through all my images. Here's what I found:

Cut and paste

Even if you don't have a Facebook account, you can view the photo.

Comments welcome! They said the MRV might show why the left doesn't drain and traps a column of non-pulsative blood while I am upright. I think the image shows right/left reversed (i.e., my face is to the front).

Thanks for looking,

Sandra

Very cool and good for you!

How confident were you in False Creek's ability and how much do they charge for this?

Thanks!

False Creek did a great job. I was fortunate enough to meet Dr. Simka while I was there, along with Dr. Cooperberg, who is their radiologist. Dr. Simka actually did my ultrasound, while Dr. Cooperberg confirmed everything Dr. Simka found and helped me understand what was going on. The MRV was done by Kevin, but I don't know (yet) who reads the images. They are really busy with Dr. Simka there today and tomorrow as well, so I was delighted to even get my images to bring back.

The cost is $2350 (Canadian $).

Cheers,

Sandra
