MRV - False Creek
Dopplar by Simka - False Creek when he visited.
Any assistance in coming to terms with this diagnosis.

Would you go for the operation or manage with diet and excersize

If you are CDMS, chances are it will later catch up on you, with or without diet etc.

Chances are, if there is a physical problem in your venous system, deit and exercise won't fully solve the issue

I tried the diet and exercise routine for 4 years straight. (I mean not one bite of sugar) I felt like I was starving all the time.

My advice get it done now before there is any more damage done. Dr. S compared angioplasty to surgery by saying that is was like comparing a fire cracker to a space shuttle blastoff. I love that analogy.

We are never going to be younger or more ready for "unstenosis" than we r now.

good luck, :!:

I have never read a single large scale blinded or unblinded study on diet and/or exercise that showed anything more than a marginal (but not statistically significant) positive benefit for those with MS.

Certainly try to make sure your diet is good and your exercise is regular, but I would not rely on diet and/or exercise to maintain control of your disease activity. There is simply no evidence that they will stabilize it, unfortunately.

We have difficult decisions to make, that's for sure.

Gordon,
just a thought--I never got a doppler etc, but was desperate--my dentist said my atlas and C1 were rotated (could feel the protrusion in crook of skull and jaw)--found a chiropractor who could deal with this, and she "unrotated" the atlas and C1--and voila, incredible relief of most symptoms!
My suggestion would be to find a chiropractor who deals with rotated Atlas and C1 (some won't), and see where that gets you first. What I am doing now is diet and exercise, and EDTA chelation, to get the blood flowing correctly, because I am assuming that stenosis was created due to veins being impeded by the Atlas and C1--now that the impedence is corrected, just a matter of getting the blood flow going fully, and correcting the problems that were created by this.

Shye,

Just a though - in the light of CCSVI, if stenosis is due to Atlas and C1 issues, do you really think stents/baloon would help.

Also, some of the CCSVI papers I have gone through seem to suggest that dislocated atlas was contributing to the stenosis ...

But I am very happy that Chipro helped you. Think simple, that seems to be the mantra. These pratitioners seem to be so rare here in India.

I think whether or not you have the angioplasty or stents, you should definitely follow the diet(swank or Best Bet). Nothing like making your body as healthy as possible.

If the stenosis is due to rotated atlas and C1, then I would think no, angioplasty would not help--certainly not until you adjusted the atlas and C1 to correct the impedence.
My feeling is tht I've corrected the impedence, and now if any stenosis remaining, will clear with the EDTA and with proper diet, excercise, and with Inclined Bed Therapy.
IF I do not continue to progress, or to feel worse, will think of getting a doppler--but with the immense change the chiropractor and neck exercises have made, I don't foresee that step.
