There were sorry but treatment starts September

That's more info than I got out of them, I get the feeling they are absolutely swamped with requests. We're in the Monday after you and also when for the all teh tests at a total of £575.

I feel that is a small price to pay and I was fortunate enough to have so many airmiles I got flights (from Surrey) and hire car and hotel covered.

In my life I've done far more dumb things with £575!

Recieved the following email from EHC this evening.

Thank-you for your email and I am sorry if the newsletter causes you some confusion. At the moment you need do NOTHING! The email was sent to inform patients of likely costs. The fact that Emma has an appointment means that she can pay for any onward referral after she has had her scan. If she would like the overall package then this would be made available to her under deduction of sums already paid ie £450 for the scan and consultation. This enables a saving of £200 to be made. You will also have read that we are offering patients the nitrotyrosine blood test free of charge. You will be refunded this amount as I see you have paid for this in advance.

I hope this gives some clarification.

No mention of possible dates for treatment though. So I guess we'll take this one step at a time and get the tests done first and see what kind of results we get.

It would be nice to see if we walk away with images of veins like other patients have received in Poland.

My guess is we may but will have to pay plenty of £££ for it .

I have asked the question but never get an answer ..........

I don't know if that's all that fair is it? I mean, true, he offers blood tests for Omega 3 and Vitamin D but, apart from that, the only other pies he's had his fingers in are in a governmental advisory role as a substance misuse consultant, raising money for MS research and working as a GP. Or have I missed something?

He is also heavily involved in LDN but I am thankful for someone like Gilhooly to take the initative to try and help patients even though he is often frowned upon by other dr's.

I get the feeling that the EHC are delaying things as they are not to sure what to do. I had an email from them asking if I would be willing to have a scan free of charge, just so they could test me and they could have a trial run but I said I would require money and expenses as I will have to take time off work. They declined and said forget about it.

I hope everything goes well for those that have an appointment and hopefully this is for real. :?

I was referring to what was found on this particular scan yesteday at EHC :D EHC are definitly following the Zamboni protocols, infact they have some of Prof. Zamboni's people there at present helping with the final training etc.

It is very encouraging to hear that the first MSer they scanned did have CCSVI.

It's usually the case in private healthcare that they do give cd's of scans etc. Will that be the case here?

We applied to them a couple of days ago. Were hoping that they will be experienced by the time they get to us in September we think. No date set yet.
I admire the people who did go to Poland, but we chickened out because of language barriers and possible advice on after care. Calling up clinics in Poland after were back might be a little too much.

HI Silver.,

It was one of our MSRC Message Boarders who had the scan done in Glasgow. You can read what he said here - http://msrcsharing.yuku.com/topic/15758?page=21

Glasgow Health Solutions Ltd is the parent company for The Essential Health Clinic, Essential Diagnostic Laboratory and Healthy and Essential which is a medical distribution company.
The news we are very pleased to announce...

After several months of negotiations we are pleased to announce that the first procedures for CCSVI in the UK will take place in October 2010.

Starting a new treatment such as CCSVI in the UK has been challenging and our original plans to start in July were unavoidably delayed.

We have now secured the commitment of an eminent vascular surgeon with extensive experience in endovascular procedures. We have also secured first class facilities for CCSVI treatment and are therefore now able to offer an excellent package of care and treatment to our patients.

As you would expect, UK based CCSVI treatment will be of the highest standard with treatment outcomes being analysed within a large clinical study.

The first cases will be carried out by Mr Donald Reid in conjunction with the internationally recognised CCSVI expert Dr Ivo Petrov of Bulgaria - who has performed over 300 procedures. These cases will be carried out on the eve of our CCSVI conference in state of the art facilities at The Edinburgh Clinic, on the 28th of October 2010.

Thereafter we will be devoting our attention to the considerable waiting list that has built up over the past few months. It is our intention to clear this waiting list as soon as possible; those who have deferred seeing us until this announcement, will still be contacted in the order they originally went onto our waiting list. We do however realise that it will be early 2011 before we have worked through everyone who is currently on our list.

At present we are still unable to offer scans and treatment in the same week but hope that this will be possible in the new year. We are not opening anywhere else within the UK at present.

We are delighted to be working in partnership with vascular surgeon Mr Donald Reid who became aware of CCSVI while working with Dr Ivo Petrov in Bulgaria. He has considerable endovascular experience in the implantation of stents which will now be an option for treatment in the UK. The low level of complications in both Bulgaria and Poland augurs well for the use of stents where angioplasty alone is not effective.

The Edinburgh Clinic

The Edinburgh Clinic is one of the newest and best appointed medical facilities in the UK. It has extensive imaging and theatre facilities as well as excellent disabled access. We are confident that our patients will have a world class experience with The Essential Health Clinic and our partners in CCSVI treatment. Those on the treatment waiting list will be contacted as soon as we can, to arrange a date for the intervention.

Since our original estimate of costs, there have been some important changes to the way we will offer CCSVI treatment. We have endeavored to keep our pricing structure close to the original estimate but the possible requirements for stents and the addition of anaesthetic cover has slightly increased the price of treatment in the UK. The total package of Doppler scan, Doctors consultation, Venogram, Endovascular treatment angioplasty +/- stenting, six month follow up scanning appointment and consultation is £5,950. For those who have already been scanned this will reduce to £5,500. This compares favourably with the other international treatment centres and is close to our original estimate.

Thank you for your patience and support over the past few months. We look forward to this exciting new development - treatment of CCSVI in the UK.

Again we would like to re-iterate that we cannot cope with phone calls asking for more information as it is swamping our systems. All current information is on our website. Please also do not ring The Edinburgh Clinic direct as all appointments will originate through us.

Thank You
