My own experience with Kostecki was the same as most other people. The procedure was very easy and almost painless.

I think the staying in bed bit might be different. My group were done late afternoon and we stayed in bed overnight. We had compression dressings on for six hours after the procedure so we were told not to move or get up. Because I came out at 4:30 mine was actually taken off about 10 o'clock at night. So of course I stayed in bed. The last person in was in the bed next to me he kept his dressings on overnight. I suppose that was because they did not want to wake him up after midnight.

We were fed that night and for breakfast the next day.

The patient I was next to was a nice young lad from Denmark. He had a number of pre-existing problems with his heart which made his procedure difficult. He ended up having two entry wounds as they had to go in through different veins to get to each side of his neck. So he was in longer than the rest of us and had two compression dressings. So it was not really surprising he was not allowed up for a long time.

Although I feel a bit apologetic about it now I also have to admit I felt a big improvement straightaway and have continued to improve.
