Stenosis identified in 1977...with reflux in the IJVs. Most interesting!

When you look at her venography pic, you will be amazed.

Very good find, Costume!
If you see at the end of the paper, there are lot of references. I wonder if the authors (thank God there is Friedman not Freedman there) know anything about CCSVI papers ...

Absolutely incredible!!! Imagine if some courageous person put this stuff out there all those years ago....and pushed for more research.
I remember reading someone else's observation that it's basically all about timing. Leonardo's helicopter idea took how long to get from the drawing board to reality?

I think we might be at the reality stage for MS cause/cure.

THIS time, it won't be buried in the archives of some medical journal.

The existence of reflux seemed pretty well accepted. This article seems to have nothing to do with MS. Am I missing something?

Fog, there are those who claim that stenosis (and the resulting reflux) in CCSVI is nonsense. I posted the paper because as far back as 1977, there were published reports that support CCSVI.

In 1977, there may have not been a thought to link the condition to MS. But I don't think anyone could see these pics and think that stenosis is bull.

Got it. The existence of reflux due to single vessle obstruction is clearly acceptedhere, altho they are not sure of the mechanism. When it is associated with CCSVI however, it somehow becomes unbelievable.

"In our opinion, some of
these cases may have been related to unilateral in
nominate vein obstruction.
Reflux into cervical veins during brain-flow imag
ing has been reported in the absence of venous ob
struction on correlative radiographic venograms (9).
The reflux was ascribed to variations of blood flow
in veins with absent or incompetent valves, accentu
ated in some instances by a Valsalva maneuver.
Other investigators (8,10), however, were unable to
induce jugular reflux with the Valsalva maneuver,
and the possible role of this mechanism in producing
jugular—duralsinuses—jugularreflux remains unclear."
