interestingly, in rats at least, zinc deficiency also increases transferrin saturation.

Zinc deficiency decreases plasma erythropoietin concentration in rats
"Transferrin saturation in the −Fe and −Zn−Fe groups was significantly lower than the Cont group (p<0.01), and that of the −Zn group was highest among all groups."
odd sx? no dx? check w/ dietitian

99% don't meet these. meds/lifestyle can affect levels
status can be low in ms & other cond'ns
'but my results are normal'. typical panels don't test all
deficits occur in 'normal' range
