In Poland Health Minister accepts refunds treatments..... Since 2009 there is the decission of Health Minister for MS treatment (I mean operations) from the NHS budget - - in many of the Polish Clinics. I have the copy of the decision written from the Ministry. Neurologists, however, hiding this decision and boycotted it. Attached pls firnd copy of the letter from the Ministry. It is naturely in polish languaage.

"W odpowiedzi na e-mail z dnia 28 października 2010 roku, w sprawie możliwości leczenia stwardnienia rozsianego (SM) poprzez udrożnienie żył szyjnych za pomocą angioplastyki balonowej lub poprzez wszczepienie stentu, uprzejmie proszę o przyjęcie następujących informacji.

Zgodnie z załącznikiem nr 1 do rozporządzenia Ministra Zdrowia z dnia 29 sierpnia 2009 roku w sprawie świadczeń gwarantowanych z zakresu leczenia szpitalnego (Dz. U. Nr 140, poz.1143 ze zm.), procedury medyczne:
– przezskórna angioplastyka (PTA) żylna (kod ICD-9 – 39.500),
– wprowadzenie jednego stentu naczyniowego lub kilku stentów (kod ICD-9 –00.45, 00.46, 00.47, 00.48),
zostały ujęte w wykazie świadczeń gwarantowanych, wobec czego, podlegają finansowaniu ze środków publicznych.
Należy jednak podkreślić, iż decyzję o sposobie leczenia pacjenta każdorazowo podejmuje lekarz, co bezpośrednio wynika z art. 2 ustawy z dnia 5 grudnia 1996 roku o zawodach lekarza i lekarza dentysty (Dz. U. z 2002 roku Nr 21 poz. 204 z późn. zm.), zgodnie z którym, wykonywanie zawodu lekarza polega na udzielaniu przez osobę posiadającą wymagane kwalifikacje, potwierdzone odpowiednimi dokumentami, świadczeń zdrowotnych. Zgodnie z art. 4 ww. ustawy, lekarz ma obowiązek wykonywać zawód zgodnie ze wskazaniami aktualnej wiedzy medycznej, dostępnymi metodami i środkami zapobiegania oraz w oparciu o zasady etyki zawodowej i bezpieczeństwa pacjenta.
Mając na uwadze przytoczone przepisy prawne, uprzejmie informuję, iż lekarz samodzielnie decyduje o metodzie leczenia pacjenta i odpowiada za wybór metody leczenia, w tym ordynacji leków."

Does this mean that UK residents can have CCSVI in Poland and the NHS in the UK will pay ?
