The rate of a restenoses in the V. azygos is very low, about 4%. Check out the "Bologna protocol"will ballooning alone of the azygos be sufficient for long term dilation? have there been many cases of azygos restenosis?

(Sorry, dan, nothing personal ) But why would the azygous vein be different than the other veins? If it's a valve malformation, that's just as likely to pop back out.
