Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield is one of the BCBS that has not officially stated they aren't covering it. They have also said they don't do predetermination for this procedure (I tried to get them to do that last month). Originally back in the spring, they had indicated they were going to cover it right before Empire BCBS made their 'we aren't covering it' stand that other BCBS decided to follow.

Horizon BCBS didn't say they weren't going to cover it in response to my attempt for predetermination, just that they don't do predetermination for this procedure. This was their response when my doctor sent them all the supporting reports & analysis. I don't want to get stuck paying after the fact, especially since this is likely not a one time and you're done procedure.

Has anyone had the procedure and have it covered by Horizon BCBS of NJ?

Hi DK,

So far it looks like BCBS here in New Mexico is kicking in for the angioplasty I had a month ago in Minneapolis.....fingers crossed, the bills look huge although I am waiting on my billing.

Good luck.

Thanks Cece, it's not all in yet, the major portion so I'm waiting and I will certainly inform everyone here what happens.
