Medpage: Red wine component resveratrol embedded in cardiac stent

This is just so incredible. From Medpage:

"In a study reported at the American Heart Association's Arteriosclerosis, Thrombosis and Vascular Biology conference, industry and academic researchers described how they combined red wine polyphenols resveratrol and quercetin into a coating for drug-eluting stents.

When tested on rats, the plastered stent appeared to dose-dependently block restenosis and local inflammation in the month after stenting compared with a bare metal stent.

Equally as impressive, the red wine compounds accelerated endothelial growth by 31% at 10 days post implant.

James J. Kleinedler of Louisiana State University presented the study."

There is some research yet to take place if they have to try this in humans, not just rats. But I am a believer in the curative powers of red wine.... :-D

Just another thought,

What if they could find a way to deliver the concoction of reservotrol and quercetin to the veins after CCSVI angioplasty to prevent them from restenosing, developing clots and scarring.

Put it on the drug-eluting balloon as the drug, as opposed to having to put it on a stent. I don't know if it would work with a single dose like that, since I had the impression it was effective because of its ongoing presence in the drug-eluting stent, but maybe.

My thoughts too. It would have to be an on going delivery system. Like an IV. Jeez if it would eliminate these problems ...

I used Resveratrol for a couple of months; it seemed giving a kind of tonus. I discontinued only because of the non-availability in here; and that my Daughter in Belgium had problems in getting it/packing it/sending it etc...

But I'd recommend anyone to try :) No any negative side from my side.

Be well all :)
