Dear CCSVI patient, doctor, nurse, scholar, scientist, public figure and/or loved one to any or all of these important people:

Please join us on 5 November 2011 for this very exciting meeting at the Convention Centre in Ottawa! Dr. Mark Haacke, Dr. Trev Tucker, and Dr. James McGuckin will be there to present valuable information related to CCSVI. (We are currently awaiting conformation from several other speakers and so I will update this page accordingly.) CCSVI Ontario is also going to update us on their political efforts to bring CCSVI treatment to Canada. (If you would like to know how this event came to be, please follow this link to my note on Facebook: http://tinyurl.com/3hpykky)

This will be excellent opportunity for you to learn from recognizable and relevant doctors, scientists, advocates, patients and public figures within the ever-growing and exciting world of CCSVI. After their talks, there will be generous amounts of time set aside for in-depth Q&A, where you can get many of your CCSVI-related questions answered.

Food and refreshments will be served throughout the event, free of charge. All expenses are being covered through sponsorship by Vascular Access Centers. If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact me at the email listed below. I will be looking forward to seeing you there!

Please note: The "tickets" that you have to "buy" on this site are free of charge and serve as a way for you to RSVP. Please do so as soon as you know you would like to attend. If you are traveling from afar, I will have news on hotels with group rates in the next few days. Please stay tuned...

All the very best,
Danielle Rhéaume

Dr. Haacke, Dr. Tucker, and Dr. McGuckin! It should be a good event.

Questions to ask Vascular Access Centers

Postby MarkW » Mon Oct 10, 2011 11:27 am

I would ask:
1-Which Vascular Access Centers use both catheter venography and IVUS in the diagnosis of CCSVI syndrome ?
2-How many diagnoses and treatments has each Vascular Access Center doctor performed ?
3-Which veins are investigated by Vascular Access Center doctors ?

It is a sponsored event and like many pharma meetings it is worth attending but with a skeptical hat kept on.

Good questions and a good reminder that this is a sponsored event.
As far as I am aware, VAC does not use IVUS in any of their clinics. They do regularly interrogate and treat the jugulars, azygous, left renal vein, and iliac, and in a recent youtube post-procedure talk, Dr. McGuckin mentioned the right renal vein as well, and I've heard before that he also looks at the IVC. He casts a wide net. He also sets a broader definition of stenosis, from what I've been picking up, since it is quite frequent that patients of his say that they had five stenoses ballooned, or even more than that. I do not hear this as much from patients of other doctors. I am not sure what they use for anticoagulation post-procedure.
I would attend this if I were nearby! I have seen Dr. Haacke speak, but have not seen Dr. McGuckin or Dr. Tucker. We need an event here in Minneapolis.

Interesting coincidence.

The Ottawa MS Clinic and the MS Society of Canada (Ottawa Chapter) are
hosting a "MS Wellness Conference" on the same day.
Free parking, Buffet lunch and afternoon snacks provided.

We already printed our tickets for the CCSVI Conference at the Ottawa Convention Centre.

Will pack our own lunch ;)

Hello, I am the CCSVI Program Specialist for VAC. (I am also a CCSVI patient/advocate/activist). Thank you so much for posting the event announcement on here! Space is filling up quickly, so if people would like to attend, they need to visit this site and register as soon as possible: https://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/205419

We will be serving food and beverages, so you don't need to pack a lunch, mag00. :-) Just come with a hungry mind. There are going to be lots of great speakers. We are sponsoring this along with CCSVI Ontario. They invited us to Ontario just a few weeks ago. We originally were going to do a smaller event, but then the amount of anticipated attendees grew... so we expanded accordingly. Also, the convention centre in Ottawa looks beautiful and it is very accessible for people with disabilities.

I'm really excited about being able to meet in-person so many of the people that I have met through the CCSVI community online. I was treated on 9/1/10 in California and then by Dr. McGuckin on 2/10/11. I proposed the job that I have today to him after meeting him through an event that I produced and hosted in Seattle in January of this year. When I planned the event, I was impressed by him and his staff every single step of the way. When I pitched the job that I have to them, they were excited and eager to hire me. I am so thankful that things worked out as they did, because I really love my job and the many people that I get to meet each day through the CCSVI community.

This event will be a wonderful opportunity to learn from a variety of practitioners. Dr. McGuckin is both an interventional radiologist and a biomechanical engineer with oodles of patents and pending patents. He is going to speak about how he approaches treatment, as well as how he treats difficult cases, like occluded stents, using a rare, but exceptional radio frequency ablation tool. I find all of this fascinating and I hope that you will, too! Trev Tucker will discuss the physics of blood flow and the development of lesions, as well as risk factors for worsening the disease. He is very interesting. Mark Haacke will be there, updating us on his work and explaining the importance of the research that he is doing. Teri Jaklin, a naturopath with CCSVI, will be discussing health and wellbeing through diet and supplementation. (I am being horribly broad here, so please don't think it will be as simple as what I am writing.) We will also have another doctor that will be speaking on CCSVI and its relationship with Chronic Fatigue and Multiple Chemical Sensitivities. Trina Clark-Feller, Certified Kinesiologist, will discuss the importance of exercise to rebuild neuro pathways. It is going to be a really great day, full of lots of great information. I'm excited!

I hope to see you there! Please feel free to email me with any questions you might have: rheaume@facebook.com

Cheers,
Danielle

I would attend if I were anywhere close. The speakers are well chosen. Dr. McGuckin has done a large number of CCSVI procedures by now, so he will be speaking from experience. With the radio frequency, my question would be if he has had any complications with that, and what the success has been with keeping the occlusions open, once they are opened using RF. And I would love to hear Dr. Tucker talk.

Enjoy the conference, to those who can make it!!
