This is a question for Dr. Sclafani and all of the IRs who visit this website.

In this 2009 paper Zamboni reported patency rates of 53% for the IJV and 96% for the azygous.:

“The risk of restenosis was higher in the IJVs compared with the AZY (patency rate: IJV, 53%; AZY, 96%; odds ratio, 16; 95% confidence interval, 3.5-72.5; P < .0001).”
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19958985

In your opinion has the patency rate improved since then? If so what factors contributed to the improvement?

IMO it's answers to questions like these that will only benefit patients, especially if patentcy = continued absence of MS symptoms.

Nice.

Some of the studies presented at ISNVD included follow-up data with ultrasounds to check patency. I don't think any of them went beyond six months. Dr. Zamboni's studies included 18 month follow-up data.

Some of the doctors who have visited the website include:
drsclafani
phlebologist
gsiskin
DrCumming
Endovasc

So maybe we will get five answers? :)
