wasn't it sad to read the e-mails, and see that the CIHR was more concerned with their image in the press, and the coordination of their "message" with the MS Society--than they were concerned with learning anything scientific. It looks like the e-mails from a PR firm, not a group charged with leading the way in medical research. So tragic. Anne Kingston is an incredible investigative journalist. Brava to her for putting this together--

I heard sunlight was the best disinfectant. I don't think they meant dish-washing liquid.

In spite of it's cleanliness I doubt this issue will pass muster in many doctors' offices. My new GP has no magazines because they pass germs, but with all that sunlight, maybe he'll make an exception. :-)

Anne Kingston wrote:Marc Stecker, a person with MS in New York City who blogs on the much-read WheelchairKamikaze.com, puts it: “The marketing of CCSVI seems to have far outdistanced the science.” CCSVI advocates say the phase I/II trial, which will cost at least $1 million and take 18 months, is a waste of time and money. Eight safety trials, assessing over 1,300 procedures, show no serious complications. Beaudet himself calls venoplasty a “low-risk” procedure: “The biggest risk is re-stenosis.”
I don't know if I agree with Beaudet, but phase I/II is kind of redundant. It will only re-prove what we already know. What's $11M or 18 months between friends?

I'm still gagging over this quote:
"Groetzinger praised the process: CCSVI research in Canada is moving at “lightning speed.”"

What planet is this person on? I'm speechless..

That's the line I wanted to quote into the FDA thread, if it's still around. 8 safety trials, 1300 procedures, no serious complications.

Wow! We is the states need to somehow expose the same because I'm sure the same back-room conversations are persisting here.
