Montel was not the breakthrough everyone thought him to be, his allegiance is to his future earnings, period. Not that I blame the man, gotta make that money while the makings good, mouth's to feed and all that.
The other night I saw Montel on another late night TV commercial. This time he was promoting a payday loan company.

my own opinion (and only mine).
Montel got a taste of the spot light again with his CCSVI annoucement.
He got releif from his symptoms that made him think he had the energy etc to make another run at fame and fortune.
he is now taking any gig he can get - earn whatever he can while the earning is good. who knows when MS may stop him again.
Fair assessment Doug, cannot say I would not do the same given the circumstances.
Since early on we've been hoping for that "star power" of some form to get on board and plant that flag on planet CCSVI, some mistakingly thought Montel would get treated, hopefully enjoy success and presto, CCSVI on the lips of every American, well that didn't happen because of money, specifically which side his bread was buttered on. Like I said, cant blame him, he has a lifestyle to support and mouths to feed, his star has faded to basically shuckterism. Whatever it takes. Hollywood is a dirty corrupt town top to bottom, they are just good at publicizing the good stuff and hiring people to mitigate the bad stuff. "Thats business".
As a former Marine, I have to respect him.
As a talk show host, I admire him.
As a father, well I'm sure there is much to brag about.
All that added up does not equal "default best prospect for CCSVI frontman/woman".
Some think it does, why I haven't the foggiest. Its going to be a long grinding road frought with politics, machinations, maneuverings, agendas (personal and otherwise), and somewhere in all that mess that is The System, the science will plug along and creep forward ever so slowly behind the scenes as it seeks to establish a foothold on the long slippery slope of forward progress, so we need someone with
A. Name/recognition/star power/voice and a microphone
B. The guts to see things through no matter the cost.
Unfortunately, few stars are willing to do B. but most have no problem with A as long as there is some reward/recognition/bronze plaque/hospital wing waiting at the end. There's still some good people there, and by Hollywood I mean generally speaking the entertainment industry as a whole, just to be perfectly clear, so hope is not completely lost, but finding one to go counter to billion dollar pharma that isnt concerned about upsetting the revenue generating apple cart is going to be difficult.
Not impossible, just difficult.
