Quote:
Erythropoietin (EPO) promotes neuronal survival after hypoxia and other metabolic insults by largely unknown mechanisms. Apoptosis and necrosis have been proposed as mechanisms of cellular demise, and either could be the target of actions of EPO.

Yeah...I looked into EPO for Jeff a few ago. Problem is, later studies found that it can cause thrombosis and cardiovascular events, so I dropped it.

I wouldn't give up on EPO that easily. Lance started on it when he was fighting for his life against testicular cancer, which cost him half of his reproductive equipment. But he won a battle far more important than any bike race.

I'm not saying he could not have done it without EPO. But when doing life-or-death, why try?

My mother was on EPO for her vasculitis, and it was part of her chemotherapy too. I would not hesitate if a doctor ever prescribed it to me. It might be part of the answer to restenosis!
