Mayo clinic is working at it

Post by frodo »

This article comes from Mayo clinic, which I would say are the number 1 in MS research (with things in their CV like the discovery of AQP4 in NMO)

Spiral vein graft for internal jugular bypass in a patient with multiple sclerosis and suspected chronic cerebrospinal venous insufficiency

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23809937

Not only they report that the patient symptoms dissapeared with venoplasty, but they also report that the vein reoccluded twice and the symptoms came back every single time.

So now that the spiral graft has also failed, what do they propose should be done?

I think this was done in 2011, Mike House was the patient.

He had it done twice and improved initially. Read his blog.

Had it done 3 times, vein bypass. Initial improvements, but failed within a month. My veins are not MY problem as I discovered but CSF is pinched by a neck bone which is causing CCSVI.

Seemed to be doing pretty well end of last year. Looks like the decision not to touch the collateral was maybe a good one. Keeping fingers crossed.

No updates in a year at Mike's blog? Hope he's holding steady.
Really glad to see Mayo clinic publishing on it.
