Has anyone had a recent reply from Dr Simka? I'm guessing things are down for the holidays.

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL.
:D

To those waiting for Dr. Simka. I emailed him in mid November- 1st response came within 48 hours. 2 weeks later I was "on the list" for April. My friend emailed 3 days after me in November and is on the list for May 2010. Now he takes many weeks to respond due to the overload- and I think the holidays make it worse. So be patient. Don't send multiple emails as he will respond to each one and it just clogs up his system. I hear he is booking into 2011- but don't despair as I think many people will pull out at the last minute and are holding spots 'just in case'.
Good luck to all.

thanks typsyturtle.

Yes, I only emailed him the once and it was only two days ago. I'm not known for my patience at the best of times :)

I wish more surgeons were trained in this procedure so we wouldn't have to wait sooooooo long.

Have a great Christmas

Hi Colapese:
Sorry that I could not get back to you sooner do to Exmas and all.
I e-mailed Dr Simka on the 11th of Dec. He replied on the 12th. WE stated we would like all tests and precedures on the same trip, if possible as we too have to come from afar(Ont Canada). He again replied on the 18th with approximate date and again on the 24th he said more info would follow in soon. Hope this helps?
Wishing you a healthy New Year.
Diana

I emailed on the 20th and still haven't heard back. Am I being impatient or should I send another email?

I sent my email on Dec. 12th and still didn't get any reply from him. Since some of you emailed him after this date and heard from him already, I'm suspecting that my mail somehow fell through the cracks and he didn't receive it. At this point I'm a bit paranoid.

I get that uneasy feeling all the time too. I got the impression from one of his e-mails that he doesn't have a lot of time or patience for questions. He just wanted to know if I want the Dx and procedure. I guess the time for questions will be in Poland.

On Dec. 3, I told him I wanted to be liberated, and I received this on Dec. 11:
Quote:
Hello,

You are in the waiting list for "the liberation operation". The estimated time of the procedure is May 2010.

We will do our best to make the treatment possible earlier, but actually we receive more requests than we can manage in a proper time. I will inform you about exact time of the examinations and potential operation in 1-2 weeks.

Best regards

Marian Simka, MD
I will be on tenter-hooks until I have a firm date. It will only seem real then. After that, I just have to hope that I am not one of those inadvertently put onto a "no-fly list" - it happened to Senator Kennedy, of all people!

Johnson and others,

I can appreciate that everyone is ultra-anxious at the moment regarding their bookings with Dr Simka. I'd say he needs a secretary or scheduler but that's not really my business.

However, what I can tell you is that he is what I'd call 'a straight shooter'. If he says he'll do something, I'm sure he'll honour his commitment. I think he's more a man of action than words and you need to appreciate that English is not his first language. Personally, I prefer people who get on with things, like Dr Simka rather than just talk.

So I would say that he's trying to do his level best by everyone.

Phil

I'm not on his waiting list yet. This waiting game is not easy to play.

English is not my first language either, nor my second. I don’t think that that slows Dr. Simka down.

Same here...so the waiting game continues.

Hi Phil,

It was actually from your report that I formed the idea that Dr. Simka doesn't mess around. I think that it was in your report also, that the good Dr. made a comment about heparins, and 'Anglo-Saxon doctors'... I liked that immensely.

I have little doubt about Dr. Simka, or that he does what he says. I am adverse to probing him with questions and such, and do trust that I am on the list. I may be subject to yammering prose, but it doesn't necessarily inspire me to be confident in a doctor. I might just think that he was as pompous an ass as I can be... Grin.
