My wife had no symptoms for years, then she got the flu and began a downhill slide that has her bedridden now and unable to use any part of her body below her neck. How does the flu figure into CCSVI?

A very simplified explanation - not scientific at all! My understanding is that when a person with MS or any immunedeficiency disease has the flu, it sets up a "perfect storm". The MS body already has plenty of inflammation, so the body overreacts and attacks itself.
