Just a late-night ramble, inspired by a couple of posters (who's names are lost in the fog, sorry), regarding contacting legislators to pay attention to CCSVI, and those of us who have it.

I reckon that if every one in the US writes to their Congressperson, that would generate 25,000 pounds of mail. Multiply as applicable for CCing Senators, State legislators, etc. If the likes of The New York Times, Washington Post, etc., were included, the impetus would be that much more concentrated. And if you had 5 family members, and 5 friends do likewise, that would be somewhere around 2 million pieces of mail hitting each desk.

A Canadian mentioned that letters were free to mail to the Prime Minister, Federal Minister of Health, MP, and also, their Provincial counterparts. It equals huge volumes of mail that could not be ignored. Let's do it! 75,000 letters on the desks of the Prime Minister, etc. (plus another 750,000 from 5 family members and 5 friends each), would freak them out! That is a voting block in strong evidence.

A co-ordinated action would be more effective than dribs and drabs of mail coming in. If everyone mailed their letters on say, January 1st, or 15th, there would be a deluge of personal petitions arriving at the same time. That would be hard to ignore. Do it again on February 1st, or 15th. Rinse and repeat.

(kudos to others who planted that seed, and who's names I have spaced)

I have begun to look up all vascular, endo-vascular surgeons, and interventional radiologists, etc. in the environs of Vancouver, and will petition them to take an interest as well. How many of us in the Lower Mainland?

It really is ludicrous that we have to wait years for neurology to get out of the way, and for research into what so many practically, and intuitively know is right - there is a 90% chance that I have occluded veins causing extreme neurological symptoms. What in Helsinki is wrong with you? Fix my Amsterdam veins now! PLEASE!

Hi Johnson,

That is a great idea. It's not a new one but it is one that has been forgotten in this day and age when people simply get past the hard work, committed end of it by throwing money at the problem.

Man, if there's anything that turns me off, it's these vacuous MS bike-athons (BILK-athons) where the public like utter idiots submit to infantile things to show why their lives should be saved. How did this habit creep in? It's everywhere.

How the heck can one inspire respect like that? (One does not, and MS continues to flourish!)

On the other hand, your idea reminds us of the option to be intelligent and respectable. We still do have intelligent people out there but they are relegated to the fringes simply because their ways aren't "groupie" enough and they aren't seen as democratically diluted.

To each his own for sure: Not all MS sufferers are alike. I'm simply exercising my right (or my left!) to align my sentiments with yours and invite others who might also feel this old fashioned. I don't live too far from you BTW.

I'll get googling to locate the addresses for these politicians. The letter doesn't have to be long. The main challenge is to find a stamp so I'll call this a stamp-athon.

Hard copy letters have more impact, as someone has to open them, and they are usually replied to. E-mail is often ignored or simply deleted. Faxes are useful too.
