The study of 950 men and women found that statins may only help patients if they have a calcium build-up — calcification — in their blood vessels. Calcium makes arteries harden and increases the risk of high blood pressure, heart attack and stroke.

Scientists believe calcification is primarily caused by a combination of genes and ageing, along with poor lifestyle such as lack of exercise, bad diet and smoking. It’s not clear why these cause a build-up of the mineral — though calcium in the diet is not to blame.

The researchers from Johns Hopkins University, Maryland, found that in the group of 950 healthy people, half had calcium build-up; they suffered 95 per cent of all the heart attacks, strokes or heart-related deaths seen in the five-year study.

The other half of the group did not have any calcium build-up and, tellingly, they suffered only 5 per cent of the heart problems that occurred. If calcium, not cholesterol, is the real issue, this might explain why 75 per cent of people who suffer heart attacks have normal cholesterol levels.

But the more immediate message, says Dr Michael Blaha, who led the study, is that patients with no calcium build-up would be very unlikely to get any benefit from swallowing preventative statins. ‘Our results tell us that only those with calcium build-up in their arteries have a clear benefit from statin therapy,’ he told a conference of the American Heart Association earlier this month.

He says instead of handing out statins to increasing numbers of patients, doctors should first measure patients’ coronary artery calcium deposits using a CT scanner (a kind of X-ray machine) and give the drugs only to those with high levels.

Dr. Lyn has suggested that I try therapy called ozone ear insulfation... she says she can get me a inexpensive ozone generator that has the ear appliance. She has a number of people that bought a ozone sauna it comes with an attachment you can use in the ear. But I do not have any interest at this time of buying the sauna (been there done that). There is a guy in in my local MS support group that is still working and walking etc., and he maintains that it's his regular hyperbaric oxygen treatments that keep him going. Of course we don't know why some people remain relatively unscathed even as they get older with MS...

But it seems like another one of those therapies that one could pursue it home. Remember, I have primary progressive MS, and frankly I do not see a lot of success testimonials concerning CCSVI and PP MS so I will be continuing to look into alternate treatments. All I know at this point, is that nebulizing my zeolite/glutathione/silver seems to have detoxed my liver enough to convert T4 into T3 and that has been impossible for 11 years! I still don't have my hormone test... and I know that Dr. Lyn has the results, so she must've gotten busy over Christmas, but I'm going to phone her and ask her to get off her duff...

So I started to read about using ozone in the ear and it's kind of interesting...

In his book ?THE BREATH OF LIFE? (1999), Charles C. Ankeney calls ozone therapy a "better and safer natural alternative" treatment of many diseases, including but not limited to cardiovascular diseases, mental disorders, multiple sclerosis, fibromyalgia, diabetes, osteoporosis, etc. He claims that ozone therapy increases oxygen unloading by hemoglobin in the blood and improves the peripheral oxygen supply in circulatory disorders, promoting recovery.

The Sixth World Ozone Conference held in Washington, DC, (May, 1982), produced many astounding papers on the medical uses of ozone. They ran the full gamut of topics from cancer to herpes to rheumatoid arthritis, written by the world's recognized specialists in their fields. These papers concluded that:

1. Ozone removes unwanted bacteria and viruses from the blood, the same way it does from water.
2. The possibility of becoming infected with hepatitis, HIV virus, syphilis or other infectious diseases through blood transfusion could be eliminated by the use of ozone.
3. Ozone is highly effective in peripheral vascular disease.
4. Ozone is effective in cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease, arteriosclerosis and hypercholesterolemia, and promptly restores circulation, relieves anginal pain and improves brain function.
5. With ozone, cancerous tumors, lymphomas and leukemia may be eliminated without the use of surgery, radiation or chemotherapy.
6. Ozone is highly effective for all forms of rheumatoid and arthritis collagen diseases.
7. Ozone is very effective for allergies of all types.
8. Ozone may be beneficial in multiple sclerosis, other neurological diseases, senility, as well as in Parkinson's disease.
9. External use of ozone is very effective in treating burns, acne, leg ulcers, open cuts and wounds, eczema, fungus and other skin disorders.

10. Rectal insufflation with ozone is effective for proctitis, colitis, prostatitis and fissures; vaginal insufflation is effective for candidiasis and other yeast infections, trichomoniasis and other forms of vaginitis; bladder insufflation is effective for cystitis and bladder fistulas, as well as cancer.

11. AIDS, herpes, hepatitis, mononucleosis, and cirrhosis of the liver have been successfully treated with ozone.

12. The application of ozone is virtually painless, has no adverse side effects and is extremely cost-effective for both physicians and patients.
13. As of 1994, sixteen countries allow the use of ozone therapy. In a study in Germany, out of millions of treatments, there have only been four deaths reported, with only 40 persons having side effects.

Has anyone here had any experience at all with ozone?

Well, I talked to Dr. Lyn again, and she said she was backing off ozone because the machines are so expensive and fussy to use. She mentioned hydrogen peroxide as a less expensive oxygen therapy. You see, according to Dr. Lyn, oxygen is one of the best healers of the central nervous system. So I mentioned to her that I had recently read you can nebulize hydrogen peroxide! This is a very new therapy, and I am trying to find out the proper percentage of solution to nebulize... on the web, some are nebulizing a 3% solution, foodgrade without additives... I found one man who said he could only handle a 1.5% solution. Dr. Lyn said neutrophils produce and release hydrogen peroxide as a way of killing viruses and bad bacteria, but any kind of oxygen therapy clears out the plaque of arteries and veins. She was thrilled with my information, that you can nebulize hydrogen peroxide because it should be just as effective as IVs. Formally in her practice, she used to give IVs of hydrogen peroxide, but she said even then it was easy to burn out a vein. Similarly I used to go to an integrative physician in Seattle, he had both an M.D. and a naturopathic degree and he tried to combine whatever therapy was best suited to whatever condition. He tried to get me to do a few IVs because he said sometimes people were sick he could not pinpoint etiology, but if he gave them a few IVs of hydrogen peroxide, they would get better. But by that time, I had already had some bad reactions to IVs like DMPS and glutathione and I really did not want any more substances dripped into my veins. So I did not try the IVs, but I would definitely nebulize the stuff and I'm just trying to verify solution strengths because I don't want to burn my lung tissue.

Conditions which can be treated with H2O2 include those conditions which can be treated with antibiotics, but without the serious toxicity often associated with laboratory produced synthetic antibiotics. Some of these conditions are candidiasis (yeast), viral infections, influenza, the common cold, sinus infection, Epstein-Barr virus and gangrene.

Hydrogen peroxide also has been found to dissolve cholesterol and calcium deposits associated with atherosclerosis. Therefore, it is a good treatment for vascular disorders. This can result in lessening or disappearance of angina, leg pain and transient ischemic attacks to the brain, which cause dizziness. It also can help reverse some of the damage left over by a stroke, if treatment is instituted early enough.

Research in the 1960s at Baylor University showed conclusively that intra-arterial hydrogen peroxide dissolves plaque in large arteries. This makes H2O2 a wonderful complement to EDTA in the treatment of vascular disease, as EDTA has been shown to clear small vessels and create collateral circulation around large vessel blockages. This combination is called "Chelox Therapy."

Iron Overload

Postby mammananny » Mon Jan 03, 2011 4:36 pm

I have to wonder where my situation would fit into this model. I have always had low iron levels and iron deficient anemia. Yet when I had the angioplasty procedure,I had iron deposits in my brain. They are evident on MRI.The hematologist I consulted said that general serum iron levels may have no correlation to the iron associated with CCSVI. I have to have dextran infusions at least once a year due to my anemia.

Just a quick update. I'm still feeling really good. I've just gone 24 days with no fatigue, no afternoon sleeping, and no aching joints. I feel totally normal. First time in three years. My record previously was 10 days straight relief, and that was straight after a phleb.

Day before last I had an afternoon sleep which broke my great run, but I'll give myself that one, I'd been burning the candle at both ends on a family holiday and then drove 300km home the day before.

I'm starting to think I've beaten this by lowering my high iron levels/transferrin saturation. I'm back to taking virtually no supplements.

Shye, did you manage to get a phleb done?

I mentioned wet cupping a while ago on this thread. It's when you have a cup put on your head/neck/spine and have tiny incisions made where the blood is sucked out from.
My husband and I decided that it was not the worst thing to do especially with all the CCSVI/vascular links that MS may have.
I was totally in shock with the blood that came out:it was congealed and lumpy. I could not believe what I was seeing. Blood should be a healthy red colour and runny. This was not. We will be doing this again. As to whether it helps: I will let you know if you're interested.

Absolutely Daisy3, I would love to hear your results. I've read about cupping, but can't fine anyone that does wet cupping. We are still looking for a way for my sister with MS to bloodlet, her iron is high, but she can't donate because she has an MS DX. She was a regular donor 20+ years ago. Very interesting.

Hi Bethr-
haven't been to the site for ages, glad to see you are still doing so well!
I've run into some problems--am a bit more than halfway thru a dental saga that has already lasted over 4 years--and the protocol I am doing for past few months (wearing a type of expanding night guard on both top and bottom teeth 24/7)--very painful, not easy to eat--so lost about 15 lbs, and don't weigh enough to donate blood!! Am starting to gain, and can donate when hit 110. Will post then.
Meanwhile, am asking my dr to run blood tests separately, ie, not have all the tests run at same time, so can get more blood draws, and hopefully keep the iron levels somewhat down.

So, the cupping sounds like something I could use now--will definitely look into it- thanks for that description Daisy3

Merlyn-
If you do use the H2O2 please keep us posted. I'm intrigued by it, on paper it sounds good, but am also afraid of it. Will read some of the links you provided, and might feel better about it after that.

Hi Shye

I have not been spending any time on here, but I have been doing a lot more reading on hydrogen peroxide therapy. Right now I am reading a book The Oxygen Revolution by Dr. Paul Harch. It is on HBOT but it is very germane I think to the subject of CCSVI. Anything that causes low blood flow to the brain will result in brain damage and dysfunction. What is amazing is how restoring the oxygen to tissue results in healing. Actually, I think this book explains a lot of the instant improvements that many people experience after the blocked veins are opened allowing proper blood flow. This book actually is kind of amazing because it describes the whole inflammation cascade and how oxygen is actually the arbitrator of inflammation. He has some pretty incredible case studies using HBOT to reverse traumatic brain injuries, cerebral palsy, diver decompression, stroke victims etc. I am not quite done reading this book, but it is really quite fascinating, especially his observations on birthing. He says the whole medical profession has become far too complacent about head injuries that occur during the birth process. It makes me wonder because I was the child of a diabetic mother, and I was 10 lbs. 3 oz.! This is typical, diabetics have large children, but the birth canal of the mother tends not to be wide enough. My youngest sister was Cesarean, her head was too large to make it through, but I gather very often back in the 50s, a natural childbirth was more in vogue and the result was subtle brain damage from head compression. Dr. Harch is that any oxygen deprivation during childbirth can have a long-range detrimental effect and it is not studied adequately.

http://www.hbot.com/

I will try to find a safe place on the web where we can download safely the e-book by Dr. William G. Douglass Hydrogen Peroxide Medical Miracle. Yesterday I did five drops of 3% food grade hydrogen peroxide in some water, got some rather adverse die off reactions, but it all went away after I nebulized zeolite. I find zeolite is the most amazing absorbent of toxins. Stops most yucky feelings when you're killing pathogenic organisms like Candida etc. My environmental illness Dr. is all for oxygen therapies, she says oxygen is what heals the nervous system and this book The Oxygen Revolution supports that. Some amazing case histories of people that were disabled for a long time, being treated with HBOT and regaining function. Who knows? If we are structurally damaged from birth and we have low blood flow to the brain, we would chronically deteriorate. But once you can restore oxygen to the brain, healing seems to take place very quickly. Brain cells can lie dormant, reawaken when they are infused with oxygen.

hydrogen peroxide must be taken on an empty stomach, otherwise it interacts with the bacteria in food. I am finding it can make me nauseous, but I can get rid of that by nebulizing the zeolite. I do not tell my GP in Canada when I'm doing, I think he would flip out. I read another 50 pages of The Oxygen Revolution and it's very interesting because he says that the white matter damage in MS is very much like the white matter damage in strokes. He says that he treated one man with MS, chronic progressive form, with HBOT for 25 years and kept him stable at one treatment a week. No progression. He said that in England MS patients got organized and set up HBOT chambers through donations so that people with MS could devise their own treatment plans, but that the whole thing is so political, that no studies are really done, but the patients themselves find it beneficial so they do it. In this book, he says once again that the neurologists were again the people that made such a fuss about this alternative treatment, that it was the victim of a propaganda war by established medicine. Dr. Harch says you can reverse permanently some of the damage if a person gets the proper number of treatments, and that you can prove the efficacy of HBOT through SPECT brain imaging and he provides examples in this book... it makes sense to me, that if we have some form of vascular problem which affects oxygen supply to the brain, that HBOT would be very helpful. It sounds like HBOT has been falsely discredited for many conditions. So I suspect hydrogen peroxide has been subjected to the same information attack... anyway, I have nothing to lose by trying it in next week I will increase to six drops or more. My guess is I am experiencing Candida die off, which is a good thing actually.

Nature's best antioxidant is a drop of clove oil under the tongue, which contains more than ten times the antioxidants that any berry does. Dentists have been using clove oil as an antiseptic in there profession for ages.

Hydrogen peroxide helps: Adult Onset Diabetes, Allergies, Altitude Sickness, Alzheimer's, Anemia, Angina, Arrhythmia, Arthritis, Asthma, Bacterial Infections, Bronchitis, Cancer, Candida, Cardiovascular Disease, Cerebral Vascular Disease, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Chronic Pain, Diabetic Gangrene, Diabetic Retinopathy, Digestion Problems, Emphysema, Epstein-Barr Infection, Food Allergies, Fungal Infections, Gangrene, Gingivitis, Headaches, Heart Disease, Herpes Simplex, Herpes Zoster, HIV Infection, Immune Disorders, Infectious Diseases, Inflammation, Influenza, Insect Bites, Liver Cirrhosis, Lupus Erythematosis, Migraine Headaches, Multiple Sclerosis, Parasitic Infections, Parkinson's Disease, Parkinsonism, Periodontal Disease, Pneumonia, Prostatitis, Pulmonary Diseases, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Shingles, Sinusitis, Sore Throat, Stroke & Memory Loss, Type II Diabetes, Ulcers, Vascular & Cluster Headaches, Viral Infections, Warts, Yeast Infections, etc. Some results from drinking hydrogen peroxide include: arthritis disappearing, high blood pressure normalizing, cancers going into remission, high energy levels returning, bowels regulated, alertness and increased memory, elimination of depression, etc. Hydrogen peroxide stimulates enzyme systems throughout the body, increasing metabolic rate, causing small arteries to dilate and increase blood flow, enhancing the body's distribution and consumption of oxygen while raising body temperature.

Possible Reactions to using Hydrogen Peroxide include: Skin eruptions, nausea, sleepiness, unusual fatigue, diarrhea, colds (in head or chest), ear infections, boils, or any other method that the body uses to emit toxins from the body. This is the natural way for the body to cleanse and the natural cleansing will be of short duration, as you continue to maintain your program. Above all, even if you must decrease the dosage, continue the program, don't give up. If you get a cleansing reaction, you may want to increase the dosage to hasten the cleansing. A cleansing is the effect on the body of bacteria dying off, or various forms of poisons being released through the eliminative organs of the body, i.e. skin, lungs, kidneys and bowels. Remember: When hydrogen peroxide comes in contact with virus and streptococcus, it will liberate free oxygen. This may be happening in your stomach. If your stomach feels uneasy, it is only the hydrogen peroxide destroying the virus and streptococcus in your body.
