evidence that MS is not an autoimmune disease

Post by fogdweller »

Researchers in Australia found more evidence that MS is not an autoimmune disease. A good study reported at this site. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/2003 ... inalpos=30

Basically concludes "The findings suggest that plaque formation has some basis other than destructive cell-mediated immunity directed against a myelin or oligodendrocyte antigen."

You may recall that researchers down under had earlier found evidence as to the same fact. (See the number 2 most read article under "Top Ten" in this web site)

This really should start Neurologists looking in different directions, and CCSVI is a different direction. Also, tose of us with PPMS knew all along that autoimmunity was not the right answer since the immunosuppressants did nothing about progression, even if they suppressed exacerbations.

Well, I sorta understood the last few sentences... It's another confirmation that others are questioning the long believed standard.

Thanks for the link.
