Hi,
I had a doppler done at Westmount and have some concerns.
The patient before me, who was in for the same doppler, was completed in about 25 minutes.
My doppler was completed in approximately 45 minutes.
I read afterwards that the doppler takes 1.5 hours to complete.
wtf?
I also read here that another patient, who's doppler was done elsewhere, had their armpits scanned. Is that part of the protocol? I ask as this was not done to me.
I'm just curious as to others experience compared to mine.
Thanks,
Mag00 <newb>

doppler
i had mine done there on Jan 28th and it took about 45 minutes. i think it depends a lot on how easily he finds the right veins and so forth... ever patient is different.
I think the tech - Michael Baranyai is pretty serious about doing a good job - i was called back the next week - no charge - because a few of the images weren't right.

I presume Westmount doesn't use the transcranial doppler.
Anyone know for sure?
From what I recall, Michael was mentioning that his test was only
"one of seven" required to diagnose ccsvi. I may have heard that
wrong. Any idea what that's about?
It was a long day of traveling for me and I was too exhausted to remember most of the questions I had for Michael. <stupid brain!>
Thanks for the info,
g00

you may want to contact Rebecca in Ottawa - her and Andrew have been doing alot of research and have been working with Dr. Haacke on proper procedures and protocol. Their web site is msliberation.ca.
have a look, it may give you the answers you are looking for

Hi,
Yeah, I was at the last meeting of msliberation.ca in Ottawa.
They had little information available and unfortunately still
haven't posted any information regarding which labs perform
the procedures properly. (Doppler, mrv etc). I have no doubt
this is a very slow process.
Though they did have a "wonderful" presentation for Tysabri. ;/
I felt the presenters were overly protective of the M.S. Society
and it's claims to be leading in regards to ccsvi research. No mention
of the tens of thousands of telephone calls having pushed them along.
I'm sure it's a nightmare trying to get anything done in Ottawa.
Never mind the fact that billions of dollars are involved.
No disrespect to Rebecca or Andrew. They are doing wonderful
things!
Thanks for the info,

Yes, the relief is great... Now I'm trying to get in touch with an IR.
Michael is great, he knows what to look for and finds it. He's very knowledgeable, and very personable.
Good luck with the scan, if he can find something in your neck, rest assured he will...

Test results
Habenoughyet,
Congrads!
If you don't mind, how long did it take to get test results back?
Thanks,
g00

First, the results took 7 business days, although Michael pretty much gave me the inside scoop, said I would be the perfect test subject for Buffalo. As for the "Hab" part... Go Habs Go... Sorry, I used my hockey username for that one...
Peace to you all, and get tested... Well worth it!
