Is here anyone who takes Copaxone + AZA (azathioprine, aka Azaprine, aka Imuran)?
May I know how long are you on it and what is your experience? I mean change of your status, side effects, etc.

RuSmolikova--I hesitate to respond because I do not wish to make anyone "afraid." In making a decision on medication I know that I would like to have ALL the information I could get.

I, personally, would avoid azathioprine (Imuran) because I have read that there is a suspicion that the drug causes cancer.

Anecdotally... Imuran was prescribed for a dear friend who had myasthenia gravis (MG); within a year of starting the drug, she died of liver and colon cancer.

Yes, that was the reason why I tried to avoid AZA for many years. Two months ago I accepted proposal of my doc because my MS has progressed (EDSS 3). Copaxone alone can“t deal with it, now.
