Arti,
If a hurricane experience can be enjoyed, then I hope you do. I'll have my eye on the news over the next couple of days and be thinking of you, Greta, Dalton, and minibabe.
Can't wait to hear about it, though I really hope it is boring and you have nothing to tell.

Good luck arti. I don't normally pay much attention to hurricane season, but you've got me watching this one closely.

Thanks, all kidding aside this thing is getting serious! The storm surge is just unbelievable, areas that I frequent fishing and what not have already begun going under water. Galveston is going to have millions of dollars worth of damage. Believe it or not the local gov around our part (Hardin county) has not issued a mandatory evacuation!! what a mistake this is. There are nursing homes full, right here were I live. I pray that these people will be OK.
Storm wise, right now there isn't much happening here at the house, but by midnight it is going to get interesting. All the oil refineries around the Beaumont-Port Arthur area are shutting down, so most in the US can expect gas prices to increase. Also alot of our oil is refined offshore and they too are shutdown!!
Well I will check back in later, for those that believe----pray for us, thank you

Well, the lights have started blinking abit so it will not be long before the generator goes to work. The winds have picked up to around 30 mph + and it has rained alittle too. We have had one incident so far, me and Dalton were walking in the backyard and found a baby hummingbird. He or she is about 2-3 days from flying like an adult so we placed it in a box and put it in the extra bathroom. We also placed a feeder in the box and it went right to it, like a pro, so at least it isn't hungry  .
Hopefully this hurricane will move fast because we have a high tide at 3:29 a.m. and this will definitely exacerbate the problem w/ the storm surge. I will update as I can, later arti

Thanks for taking care of the hummingbird Arti. He'd have been a mess in the wind and rain.
I just read your post to my daughter, and please know that you , your family, and neighbors will be in our prayers.
The bird is safely sheltered. We will trust that you are as well.

Dalton and Greta are fast asleep. The wind is howling, but really not that bad as of now. Looks like Galveston and Houston are sustaining some major damage. The power here is still on and praying it will remain on, not likely though. I took a short nap and will likely stay up the rest of the night. Just heard that there are 14000 people that did not leave Galveston island, they are in harms way to say the least.
I will post up some pictures of the little hummingbird later. Well got to get me a beer, cause it looks like a long night, Later arti
