Hi everyone,

I'm taking an AWESOME trip to Europe and will be flying with US Airways.
Does anyone know if i can request that the seat beside me be empty so that i can stretch out during the flight? I'm worried about my legs and not moving for that amount of time in a cramped environment. I'd upgrade to first class... but its a bit too steep for my travel budget.

Any and all advice would be appreciated.

Airlines are getting pretty picky with respect to seats. I just read in our local newspaper that there are a couple of airlines that are considering charging heavy/wide people that won't easily fit into the dimensions of a single seat for an extra seat. However, instead of asking for an empty seat next to you (which could be a problem especially if the flight is full) you can try something else. I have a family member that also has problems with long flights. They always request an aisle seat so that they can get up and walk a little from time to time to stretch their legs. This might be a more workable solution for you.

you can also pay a little bit to reserve the first seat up front where there is more leg room. you can do all this by phone ahead of time.

Thanks very much for the suggestions.

I will be calling them today to ask A) aisle seat) and B) bulkhead seat if possible.

I just looked at the flights and they're still pretty empty at this point.... so i'm hoping that maybe, just maybe, i can get a 2 seat row to myself and stretch out a wee bit

We'll see what happens

Thanks again!
Meegs

so i've got bulkhead seating for 3 of my 4 flights and the 4th seat is an aisle.

I'm SOOOOOOOO excited! I fly out Sunday night.
Although its 37 degrees over there right now (celsius) i fear i may melt... but whatever. A vacation is a vacation :)
