Are there any treatments for ON other than 4 aminopyridine?

My Neuro just treated me the corticosteroids. That was it. I completelly lost site in my right eye. Blind.

If its any consolation to you, I did get full 20/20 vision back, however it took about 6 months to recover. It still bothers me when it is overcast outside or at a store with bright flourescent lighting.

Like oneeyeblind, I too went totally blind in one eye back in September. I had 5 days of Solumedrol (methylprednisone) 1 gram per day IV infusion. That is a "truck load" of steriods! Seven months later my vision is 20/25 in the portion of the field that is clear. A portion of the visual field is still kind of foggy...sort of like trying to look through very dirty glasses.

You have heard the phrase" blind in one eye and can't see out of the other one"? Well that is Gary. Sorry if this offends anyone, but we joke about everything. Otherwise we would all sit down and smother in depression. Anyway, Gary's eye problem has been going on for years. He takes 4 amniopyridine, which is a compound of amino acids. It helps to increase nerve conduction. It does work, mildly, but in high doses can cause seizures. His Neuro has several on it and hasn't had this problem. His vision is total loss in R eye and legally blind in L eye. This is probably permanent. Been there a while. Just wondering if there was anything else you all knew of for ON.
