This Is MS Multiple Sclerosis Community: Knowledge & Support

This has to be my latest "symptom," and yes I've mentioned it to my neuro (neurologist), who said the medication CAN have worse side-effects than the current problem it causes, I agree...my question is, right now, it's only my right hand that shakes, which I happen to be right handed (never thought there would be good things about not being able to work), so thank God for my husband cause you couldn't read my writing even my signature. Since I'm new here, I'll let y'all know, I gave up driving years ago (I was lucky enough to work a little longer than driving as hubby worked close to where I did) when it crossed my mind that IF I ever didn't react fast enough and caused someone else harm, I would feel even WORSE, I hated to lose the independence, but would feel worse if I hurt someone else!

Anyone else have the hand "tremors," and how did you deal with it (I've already) started to use my left hand to eat/drink, any other thoughts/ideas would be appreciated. Thanks! Jaime

I have had tremors in my right hand for almost 6 years and my left for almost 2 yrs. IT SUCKS!!!!!! im on pemanent light duty work because of my tremors............im a police officer. the best thing my neuro annd i have found are:

1. Mysoline
2. Klonopin
3. DBS - deep brain stimulater
4. IVIG - good luck fighting the ins co

TREMORS ARE HORRIBLE. I have to drink everything with a lid and straw. if i can help or offer support, send me an email. Be tough, you'll make it.

Thanks! I won't share this one with hubby as he'll want everything in the world done, checked and honestly it's a pain, but since I already can't work, it's not worth it, I already use straws and lids, GREAT IDEA though, thanks!

I've had to give up hot tea and soup. Signing a check is always...interesting.
It's been a bit of challenge for me to find a good "straw bottle." I found some good lidded cups on theanimalrescuesite. The lid screws on. I use a metal straw and drink only water from this. I thought a travel (read: lidded) coffee cup would make it possible to enjoy hot tea again, but no. I won't even attempt it unless it has a screw-on lid.
As for PENS, I heard about "Penagain" and got some, but they haven't woked for me.
I did come across a site that specializes in weighted items, like utensils, mugs...they have a lot of stuff.

I'm wondering what people have found to help with tremor.

Nalgene makes a bottle with a screw-on top (24 ounces). The real nice part for me is a built-in straw that locks closed and since I always have to have my liquid, I have four of these usually full of water that hubby leaves me with while he is awayworking. I love the fact that they are pretty"spill-proof" and the straw has to be "unlocked" to let liquid out. I swear by it, hubby got it at a local sports(?) store, call and ask if they have "nalgene" bottles.

Was told by hubby you'd also have to ask for the "multidrink" if you call to ask about the bottle, that one has the built in straw and does go to the bottom.

I have had tremors in my right had since high school (over 30 years). I consider the tremor my very first symptom (MS). I take a low dose propranolol (10 mg). It is prescribed as daily but I only take as needed.

So I hate to be "that guy" but shouldn't you really tell your doctors? if it is due to a flare up don't you want to get the steroid dose for it?

Is there's some downside that they're not telling me to the steroid treatments?

The complete name for steroids is glucocorticosteroids. They raise the glucose (blood sugar) in the bloodstream and ultimately trigger increased insulin secretion.
