Hi Debb
sorry to hear your husband is in pain. Has he tried amitriptyline? I think it was under the brand-name of Elavil in the US/Canada. I take it for neurological pain, it works well. HTH

I checked our records and he has never taken amitriptyline but he was perscribed Nortriptyline by his primary prior to his diagnosis in neurology. it seems that they act in a very similar fashion. when he was taking Nortriptyline he had a noticably increased appetite and was very irritable so the Neuro said he was allergic and changed him to the next drug on the wheel of fortune. We will ask about amitriptyline at our next appointment.
Thanks again,
Debb

That's a shame about the side-effects on Noritrip Debb. To be honest I get very irritable on amitrip too but my dose is low at 25mg, and I have to weigh up not sleeping vs. a bit of grumpiness on ami and sleeping ok. Wish there was just a wonder drug that would work without the nasties! Hope your hubby gets on well at the next appt.
