My right hand started showing signs of heaviness and writing difficulties fifteen years before my diagnosis. During the MS attack in Dec 2008, I experienced heavy itching on the same hand to the point of bleeding due to scratching at night. My right hand feels better once I change my posture. I checked myself for CTS which came negative. The only thing left is Thoracic Outlet Syndrome (TOS). Anybody who had TOS and got himself checked. At present, my right hand is numb and I cant write also. At present, no lesion in spine and few non active in brain. Please advice.
Hey Taurus,
I sometimes get a similar feeling in my right hand when I am writing and just chalk it up to MS but if you want to do a test at home for TOS try this maneuver out:
THE WHITE HAND SIGN, A NEW SIMPLE MANEUVER USEFUL IN THE DIAGNOSIS OF
THORACIC OUTLET SYNDROMEQuote:
A simple objective test to assess the positional vascular obstruction at the thoracic outlet is the observation of the change of colors of the hands when the patient elevates the hands above the shoulder girdle, with the fingers pointed to the ceiling and the palms facing the observer. The appearance of the paleness, sometimes cadaveric, in one or both hands is called the White Hand Sign.
Of course I am no doctor but I would guess ultimately your best bet is to go to your primary physician and have then determine the cause of your symptoms. Good luck and hang in there!
