I was just wondering if anyone has any experience with ayurvedic treatments for MS. I know that the net is full of scams promising recovery from serious illneses, but as the Eastern medicine is so far from us and we do not know too much about it, I am wondering if there might some benefits for us.
I saw this guy, whose name is Sri H G Bhat, on the net and allegedly based on his protocol some improvements were achieved in MS patients. Anyone has any experince in this field?
thx

Hi Liberation. I have no experience with this, but in case you don't get much response today (posters come and go) you could try putting "ayurvedic" into a TIMS site search here. I just got 2 pages full of posts when I searched for it just now.

Good luck!

Hi,

My wife is an RPMS patient. We have tried all kinds treatment including Siddha, Ayurvedic, Homoeopathy in addition to Betaferon for 2 years Rebiff for 6 months And finally on Copaxone for the last 3 years.

In Homoeopathy we went to dr Ramakrishnan His link is provided below
http://www.homoeotimes.com/jan05/html/interview.htm but after 4 months it only made the condition worse by increasing the lesions

She is taking siddha medicines for the last 3 years both orally & also applying oil to reduce the pain but there is no improvment.

She has aslo tried Ayurvedic oil massages to help control pain but that aslo has not proved helpful. Below is the link where we are trying Ayurvedic medicine
http://www.aryavaidyasala.com/

Hope this info is useful.

PS . Used to live in USA but moved back to Chennai, India as my wife was diagonised with MS

Thanks,
Gopi

Hi All,

I can tell you from observation that MS can be cured if treated within a short time (like 1 year) frame of the onset of the disease. I have been through the MS journey for few years now. A friend of mine has been completely cured of the symptoms. She took 3 months of treatment at a genuine place in India. My close family member had the same treatment but his recovery has been very slow. But remarkable given that he his complications started 8 years ago. But I am optimistic that he will be cured.

One thing for sure is that Ayurveda will help stop the progression of the disease. That is what the Dr aims at. Then they will look for recovering lost abilities. Which is excellent given what other treatments have to offer.

After pouring through 1000s of pages in web and text books I gather that the key to cure is in this routine:
1. As much as Pranayama as possible everyday - starting with 5 minutes and extending it to half an hour as you can handle (is realistic given the benefits).
search for "Baba Ramdev -Yoga Science, Pranayam & Yoga Asanas" in you tube

2. Meditation everyday -

http://youtu.be/_FRyMrzjymY
search for "Meditation with Sri Sri Ravi Shankar"

3. Strict Diet - No sour food, chilly hot food, no additives/preservatives etc only natural cooked food, less fruits and no junk, good amount of carbs and little cooked veggies, sensible snacks. This list you have to get from your doctor but "please do not follow any web page" because they all have contradictory list of allowed items quoting ayurveda.

4. Ayurvedic treatment - Every doctor has their own style.

The common treatment -
assessment of your individual body type. based on that the rest are decised.
Technique for cleansing the toxins from body - panchakarma
Treatment
Recuperation - rest
Followup medicine

see http://www.girijasanjeevani.com/casestudies.htm

5. Last but not least but the ultimate - do some soul search - There is a very subtle but yet powerful technique called Sudarshan Kriya taught. This is very beneficial to each cell of our body and at various levels.
http://www.artofliving.org/global/home

Sahaj samadhi meditation taught at the artofliving is ultimate. (This is not an advert. AOL is in 151 countries with millions of people practicing this.)

Gopi, What are the medicines given for the condition. I thought that siddha as powerful as Ayurveda. I didnt move forward as I couldnt find a good practitioner/advice.

All the best.

While I understand that this post is related to Ayurvedic medicines, please allow me to include Traditional Chinese Medicines (TCM) in the discussion. I have heard that TCM Ping Fu Tang had been clinically tested for MS and observed to have good results. Any friend from far East, please comment.

Making a statement like this is kind of irresponsible, especially on a MS forum. Nobody knows what even causes MS at this time so how can you say the disease can be cured?! Over the years different therapies have been tried on MS and some patients' symptoms have been relieved by them. MS sufferers can go years without showing any outward effects of the disease only to see it return much later. To say that they are cured is simply wrong.

Your ideas and opinions are welcomed but please don't try and tell the readers here that you know how to "cure" MS.

Harry
