For the past year, I have had a few things go on with my body. I’ve had frequent headaches. Numbness to the legs, arms, one side at a time.
Leg spasms, nausea, fingers locked, tired, dizzy. I had an MRI done last March, 2011. They found a benign tumor and
Lesions on the brain. BUT with all these symptoms, they said nothing was wrong with me. For the past few weeks, Ive had more symptoms.
Slurred speech, blackouts, blurred vision, loss of taste buds (off and on), memory loss, pain in the eye, pain to one side of the face at a time..
Could I possibly have MS? And why are they misdiagnosing it? Should I get another MRI done? Can I ask for an MRI to be done? Is it the
Only way to find out if I have MS?
Thank you in advance for the feedbacks. I really am confused about all of this..
I actually have an appt next Friday but Im trying to learn more about it .

:?

ok here are the things that make me suspect a magnesium problem:
headaches, leg spasms, fingers locked, tiredness, face pain.

and things that are setting off my zinc radar:
nausea, dizziness, blurred vision, loss of taste sense, loss of memory, eye pain.

some of your symptoms could be a combination issue involving both nutrients.

regardless, do see if you can get someone to test your serum magnesium and your serum zinc.

in the meantime, we can evaluate your diet for sources of these nutrients, decide if you're meeting the RDA, and we can also examine lifestyle for things that deplete those nutrients in particular. for example, stress depletes magnesium. bread depletes zinc.

if you want, post a 3-day diet diary and we can go from there.

hello. thank you for your response. So i went to the hospital because my right side went numb. the tingling feeling got worse in my right arm. They did blood work and said it was not diabetes. They did mention 'paresthesia'.
i was told to see a Neuro to get an MRI done. which i knew they would.

i saw the causes for paresthesia and MS was one of them.

Questions:
this tingling feeling and numbness im getting is not on my skin. its coming from within. like a lightning feeling shooting from one limb to another. im in pain at some points. its off and on tho. last night for the first time, it was below the knee. later on it went back to my thigh area and now its both legs at a time.

today the back of my leg escpecialy behind the knee, was so numb and felt like little things crawling at one point. my hand went numb and started moving on its own (fingers). i had to sit down bc i felt like my legs were going to give way.

I want all info I can get so I can bring this up to the Neuro. I dont want to have something happen to me to find out its too late (for whatever it is I have). I just want answers.

thank you again. and oh, i didnt see the responses to this post til today. but i will bring this up to the neuro. would they have seen this at the hosptial when blood was drawn? (serum magnesium and zinc)?????

The only info you need to bring to the neuro is a detailed list of your symptoms (including when you first felt each symptom and any changes/events that trigger the symptoms) and copies of any MRI reports, blood tests, etc. that you've had.

You've got to bring the details of your past, but it's the neuros job to figure out what the problem is.

Most neurological problems can 'look' like other problems, so most neuro diagnoses will require eliminating alternative possibilities. You'll be extremely lucky (if that's the right word) to get a diagnosis of any kind after one visit, and even then it would be advisable to have the dx confirmed at a major neurology center (university, Mayo, etc.)...

heya, they don't routinely check serum zinc or magnesium, they just should. when it comes to those aspects, you have to advocate for yourself, unfortunately. it's luck of the draw whether the doc will go along with the request. definitely keep a diary with timing and very brief description of symptoms. you want your doc to get a good snapshot of a day in your life, without having to read a novel :) it helps if they're reading, because when you're talking they can interrupt with questions and then you might not have time for all the details, or could forget something you had wanted to mention.
