I have been suggesting for years that MS is caused by herpes. There is growing evidence that various herpes strains have a strong association with MS. Herpes attacks are often preceded by stress, just like MS flare ups. Every few years a new herpes virus is identified. No study as ever found evidence of herpes actually causing MS. I believe this is because it is the mere presence of the herpes virus in nerve ganglia that somehow scares or tricks the immune system into action. In other words, herpes does not need to flare up or "attack" to cause mischief.

The reason herpes has been ignored lately in forums is because so many are convinced that CCSVI cause MS, whereas for me, it is just another symptom of the disease.

As far as I know there is no known cure for herpes, but I once read somewhere that cobra venom was thought to be the only substance in the world to kill the virus. This might explain why so many poison and venom cures have been touted as MS cures, such as bee stings, scorpion and jelly fish venom.

I've been eating blackcurrants for years as they are thought to help eradicate herpes.
Anyone else have any herpes cures? There are plenty of e-books that claim to eradicate the virus.

have you googled "ultra violet blood therapy"? it is interesting. i have no experience with it. the closest treating dr.'s are not close for me. but, with antibiotics looseing traction it would be worth a try to me if i could. plus it doesn't kill the good bacteria. anyhow, this is the internet, so what do we choose to believe? until someone comes up with the "sure" thing--we search and experiment on oursevles what we can-hoping we get our answer. i'd love to know anyone who actually tried this. it makes sence that it could work.

There is a growing school Of thoughts that links herpesviruses with the activation of human endogenous retroviruses that may play a part in the pathogenesis of MS. This is a field of study that is picking up steam. Human endogenous retroviruses are viral material that Is part of the human genome, basically remnants of viruses that have been incorporated into human DNA through eons of devolution. It is suspected that HIV will eventually become part of the human genomet thousands of years down the line.

Great link the second one. Really worth reading. It adds support to my knowledge...

My wife keeps telling me that always when I get herpes on my lips or nose, she starts to feel worse (her leg gets weaker, her fingers are more numb...). Or when she meets her mother or anybody with herpes. Either few days before outbreak or the same day. I still cannot 100% believe it. She even doesn't have antibodies to HSV-1/2 in her blood. That's another surprise how come she didn't get it from me yet.
Herpes is not be airborne transmitted. But the viral replication and shedding can occur at any time of the year.
The only explanation I can understand now is that there must be some upper respiratory tract infection (rhinovirus, adenovirus...) that I or other people get, that awakes their herpes outbreak or shedding. From my experience, respiratory infection is like 50% higher chance for an outbreak. All the other known factors (sugar, alcohol, arginine rich foods, stress...) can then only make the outbreak bigger or smaller. The same infection that awakes herpes in me can awake some other herpes in my wife (e.g. EBV, CMV...) or even directly this new one HERV-W retrovirus. It's hard to understand but in any case doing as much as possible to avoid infections is probably the key for us.
