They can treat you monthly with IV solumedrol. When you require frequent solumedrol, or any steroid, you need to take calcium, Vit D, and either actonel or fosamax to protect steroid induced osteoporsis. I am going to find the guidelines and post. Like I said, I was treated every month for 10 months in a row the first year. I have to say, I have minimal disability now-sometimes left side weak, almost everyday by 3 pm slurred speech, because I am tired, and muscle pain every day which is relieved most days with meds. I think if they had not treated me with the solu, I would be more disabled now.

This article is about disability after exacerbation, which is why I think exacerbations should be treated with steroids.
