Allright everybody, it is time for a team effort.

This is MS would like to pull together (and maintain) a document showing every drug that is currently in clinical trials for the treatment of Multiple Sclerosis (or its effects, such as fatigue), what phase it is in, who makes it, main mode of action, preliminary results, etc.

While we can get quite far ourselves, this seemed like a great opportunity to get the community involved. We hope that many of you will contribute to this project-- if you think of it like a scavenger hunt, it could be quite fun. Of course, there are shortcuts to getting a lot of the information at once, such as locating other documents that attempt to do something similar. However, we are not satisfied with what is out there today and we know we can do better. Our aim is to create a resource that is more thorough, easier to read and understand, and makes it clear where to find out more information (such as how to participate in a given trial...).

Furthermore, we know that the way to achieve that is to involve our brilliant, tenacious members.

Any help any person can provide will be greatly appreciated.

A good template to use is as follows, but feel free to present data in any way you want. We will take all the inputs here, add whatever is missing, and produce a document we will actively maintain.

The message of this project is HOPE. There is an incredible amount of research going on!

Name of drug/compound:
Manufacturer:
Location:
Current FDA Phase: (I/II/III/IV)
Treatment for: (MS Progression/MS Fatigue/etc.)
Intended for ___ MS Sub-types (Relapsing-Remitting, etc.)
Mode of Action: (how it works)
Mode of Application: (e.g., Injection/IV/etc.)
Website for more information:

Fabulous Idea, I think most all of them are here in the forum but with all the posts, who has time to actually go through and read all the posts. Isn't that what this board is all about..............bringing it all together. Will the results be presented on a page designed spesifically for presentation of this data (just a suggestion) ?

Willing to help.....This is my HOPE

Name of drug/compound: Simvastatin (Zocor)
Manufacturer: Merck & Co., Inc.)
Location: World Wide Corporation
Current FDA Phase: (none known specific)
Known Trial :
Quote:
A small clinical trial was done of the oral cholesterol-lowering drug Zocor® in 30 individuals with relapsing-remitting MS:
Zocor appeared to reduce the number of new MRI-detected brain lesions over the six-month treatment period, and demonstrated other signs of possible benefit;
Previous studies have suggested that this and other statin drugs can alter immune responses in a way that may be beneficial for treating MS;
Larger, controlled trials will be required to determine the drug’s safety and effectiveness against MS; such trials are in planning stages.

Treatment for: (MS Progression/MS Fatigue/etc.)
Intended for _All__ MS Sub-types (Relapsing-Remitting, etc.)
Mode of Action: Previous studies have suggested that cholesterol-lowering “statins” can alter immune responses
Mode of Application: Oral

Thanks Philip, keep it coming!

Treez, we intend to gather the information from this post and our own research, package it up in an easy-to-understand format, and post it as a download or web page.

I'm taking the lazy way out here, but this is a link to a really good summary put together in April 2004 by ING on the "MS Market" which includes a great listing of therapies in the clinical trial process.
