For lack of a better place to post this, I put it here under General Discussion.

I still think the FIRST step in solving a problem must be to know the CAUSE of the problem.

In discussion the other day my husband gave this brilliant (in my opinion) analogy: MS research is like a person having his car towed in to a repair shop and saying, "My car is broken; it doesn't work."

And one mechanic saying, "Let's replace the muffler."

Another says, "We'll change the tires."

*****
We need to identify THE PROBLEM FIRST! Maybe it's simple, maybe the fuel tank is just empty!!!

Just because MS is described as complex or complicated or difficult does not mean its cause must be complex or complicated or difficult; but we need to find the cause first.

Thanks for letting me rant a bit on this fine afternoon.

Lyndacarol,
This is why I drove to Atlanta to give blood!
The Accelerated Cure Project is hoping to find a cause. They write:

Quote:
We are also developing a Cure Map to establish and document what is known and what is not known about the causes of MS. From the Cure Map, Accelerated Cure Project will facilitate the research most likely to reveal the causes of MS in the shortest time through use of our MS Repository.

Some are still trying!

Terry

I didn't take offense, Bob. It seems like an impossible goal sometimes.

The cure map is interesting. www.acceleratedcure.org

I just can't wait until they figure it out. I haven't been willing to take meds yet. It would be nice to have one that is guaranteed to cure!

Most researchers gave up hope of finding the cause, LONG ago. Most who haven't given up are only chasing their tails.

You need to sit in the corner with your nose in it for at least an hour for this negative thought.

GWA, you made me laugh!!! Yes, Bob, to the corner!!

Bob, I don't know WHAT I'm waiting for. And yes, I read, but none of the options sound good to me. I still take the homeopathic remedy, but haven't actually had a dose since December. I will probably take it again soon, though Cheerleader and her husband's rash scared me a little even with that! I started reading, and you know how on the internet, one idea links to another and soon you are off on a tangent... (kind of like this post ...) , well the homeopathic remedy gave me neck rashes and white spots on my skin there that come and go, and in my reading about Jeff, I found some crazy stuff that reminded me of my neck and I don't want to make myself more sick trying to get well. So... instead of all that....I'd just like to order up a cause and a cure, please!

Effective treatment that stops progression of the disease buys time for finding the cause, repairing the damage, correcting medical textbooks, educating clueless neurologists, etc. That's step 1 for my 2 pennies.
