This Is MS Multiple Sclerosis Community: Knowledge & Support

After an article about JK Rowling and her feelings, that MS does not get enough attention, the BBC added the announcement:


So, it's only available on BBC Scotland at 10:45pm....that should draw a large audience

That limited airing may be true but I also saw this which looks like it may have more exposure.

A Public Broadcasting Service crew is in Buffalo to film a special documentary on multiple sclerosis.

PBS, which started filming Tuesday and will continue today, is interested in the research on MS being conducted at the Buffalo Neuroimaging Analysis Center of the Jacobs Neurological Institute and the University at Buffalo. The center is located at Buffalo General Hospital.

The special is part of the “Healthy Body, Healthy Mind” series and is expected to air about 175 times over 18 months on 225 PBS stations throughout the nation starting this fall.

The program will be hosted by Dr. Robert Zivadinov, associate professor of neurology at UB and director of the center, and spotlight life experiences of patients, physicians and caregivers dealing with MS.

I haven't seen it mentioned on ThisIsMS.org but I heard that Michelle Obama's father had MS. Perhaps if she becomes First Lady, she will become an advocate for more MS research.

Yeah, I've read some wonderful interviews with Michelle on the subject of MS. (thanks for the link, Bob) She and Barack has spoken with great passion about the need for research and health care. Here's his speech supporting stem cell research...it's about time!!!

On the other side of the aisle, if Mitt Romney ends up as McCain's VP, his wife Anne has MS. It's been interesting, seeing many of the candidates dealing with health issues (McCain's cancer, Elizabeth Edward's breast cancer) I think/hope the tides are turning.

I didn't hear anything about the bbc program beforehand - but I live in the wrong area of the UK to pick it up anyways. Many programs can be watched again on the BBC's website
