I admit I watch too much TV; I am especially drawn to medical items.

Today I caught a report that scientists have identified two new risk factors for prostate cancer: obesity and high insulin level. (In fact, high insulin levels increased the risk 4 times!)

So, guys, you have another reason to request a fasting serum insulin test. (Make sure the sample will be frozen if the testing will not be done immediately.)

I know that men can get breast cancer, too; but it is more common in women. So this article may be of more interest to them:

High Insulin May Boost Odds of Breast Cancer

"Those [women]whose fasting insulin levels were the highest had a 1.5 times greater risk of breast cancer than did women with the lowest fasting insulin levels, the study found."
