Also Friday, investor Carl Icahn – who unsuccessfully pushed Biogen to sell itself in 2008 – filed to add four members to the company’s board of directors.
The new members are Alexander J. Denner, Richard C. Mulligan, Thomas J. Deuel and David Sidransky. Denner and Mulligan were part of a slate of directors that Icahn tried to get appointed to Biogen’s board in June 2008 without success.
Icahn, the billionaire investor, is a major shareholder in Biogen Idec. He wants the company to sell and has accused it in the past of sabotaging an effort to sell itself last year.
