Sharon, and at the time when dx-ed you must have had only one flare and none further, right? Because if you have had two-three flares you have no choice but go on CRAB.
This is not an easy answer - I probably could have been diagnosed 30-35 years ago. My first flare would have been from a tooth infection - symptoms were ringing in the ears and balance issues. Second flare would have been an allergic reaction to paint spray which caused a trip to the emergency for inflammation in the lungs. Then nothing for years until surgery for varicose veins which led to my walking problems. This was in 1990. It was not until 2003 when a chiropractor told me to get to a neurologist at which time I was diagnosed. So, as I mentioned in a previous post, by this time I had probably slipped into SPMS. My MRI's showed no inflammation and no activity. The CRAB drugs would not have helped me.
All your stories only prove once again that ms is treacherous and sly and no one can say anth reagrding its course for sure. It is very discouraging not to know for certain how it's supposed to develop and what to expect.
I have stopped trying to figure out what to expect. I just deal with what I can or cannot do in the moment - I don't want to waste time or emotional energy worrying about it. I am careful with my diet and my exercise. I have incorporated many things into my lifestyle that I have learned from people here on thisisms.
