Okay- I seem to be having heart issues.
Often, my heart gets out of rhythm. Happens and goes away.
Today, I carried about a dozen boxes into my truck then from the truck up steps to my house. Heart went wacky. Kept carrying-- figured it would go away. Finished carrying and for almost 2 hours, my heart was out of rhythm. Went from the computer to the couch then finally to get an aspirin in me and take a bath in case I needed to go to the hospital. The aspirin seemed to help. By the time I was out of the bath, my rhythm felt normal.
I felt fine except for a few seconds during the carrying when my throat felt tight. Maybe a little "fainty" like my BP was off. Weak, kind of.
I have had this happen before, but not for this long.
Is this related to the MS? I assume it is. Is it benign?
Def not a panic attack. I was calm and assumed it would ease.
Can this be related to CCSVI? I wondered if I should print all material before I want to the ER so they would not do something crazy to me and take all that into consideration.
Feeling fine now- just in need of an MS nap.
Your input is appreciated.
Terry

I really do not believe this is related to your ms. It is probably something as simple as palpitations (had them for years) but I would contact your health care provider(today) and get some recommendations from them just in case they believe you need to be seen.

Hey Terry

Just a quick comment. I don't really see how thi could be related to ms. However, having said that, I find it interesting that quite a few people with ms seem to have similar symptoms, myself included. Also don't think it is a panic attack - my old GP thought that based on what I described, but I know it isn't - I am not feeling anxious or uptight or upset or scared - it can happen when I am lying down on my bed, feeling relaxed. I will say that this feeling is unpleasant, and makes me feel a bit scared if it goes on for more than a few minutes. I get a bit dizzy and light-headed too when it goes on for a while...My Oncologist actually heard it and said it was ectopic beats, which basically means extra heart beats and that makes the rhythym irregular - but no-one has investigated it. It is nt taken very seriously because I am not in a high risk group for heart disease...
I am curious why so many of us are coming out of the woodwork with this kind of complaint - if I remember correctly, chest pain or 'heart' problems was Jamie (Bob/Lyon's wife)'s presenting symptom for ms - wierd is all, I am not saying there is a causal link cos I haven't a clue...
To reassure you, I think that is there is not pain, feeling of pressure, shortness of breath, tightness, nausea or sweating, then it is probably not life threatening now - but I think that a trip to your doc is warranted - you need to know what it is, if it needs to be treated - and if you can ignore it or if it i a problem.
Best of luck & take care Terry - I just find it curious that quite a few ms folks have non-specific cardiac complaints, in many cases, involving some sort of irregular heart beat or arrhythmia...
xxx

Thanks Scorpion and Ally. I am okay now. I really thought I might have to go to the ER, though, to get help getting back to a normal rhythm. Got in the tub and shaved my legs and everything! Didn't want to go to the ER with stubbles!

Hey Terry,

Please get this checked out by your family doctor on Monday just to be on the safe side. If you get similar symptoms again go to the ER. Sounds like typical palpitations but it is always better to be sure. You getting a shower in case you have to go to the ER reminds me of when I was little and my grandma telling me never go to sleep without underwear on ""because you never know when you will have to go to the hospital!! LOL

Not sure about the doc yet. Can "just palpitaitons" last 2 hours?

Terry,

Get your butt to the doctor. Yes palpitations can last 2 hours or more but you could also have an arrhythmia that needs treated. It dosen't sound like anything serious but it may be something that if you let go it may become serious!!!!!!!

Do know that I hate going to the doctor. I fired my neuro after 2 appointments- left my homeopath in the dust. My Gp has seen me twice since my MS diagnosis- once for an ear infection that would not go away, and once for a cut on my hand that my son had fits about. Grrr. Do I really have MS? Can I really not lift boxes and feel okay to carry on through the day? Today, I am frustrated. I am figuring out what to do. Ignoring it all would be my favorite option. At some point, I know, I'm going to have to get off my lazy duff and deal with this stuff. Waiting until I think I need to go to thje ER is stupid. I know this. I fell better about yesterday. I also know I need to deal with it.
