thank god its only ms

If it's on your mind and it has to do with multiple sclerosis in any way, post it here.

thank god its only ms

Postby tara97 » Mon Jul 13, 2009 6:05 pm

just had my first mri in 5 years today. the last one said phrases like " consistant with the demylination process in ms and tm" but the lesion did not contrast. this is the first bout I have had in 5 years and I would assume that after all this time and waiting this mri would be definitive either way ms or no ms. I made the mistake in asking the radiology clinic to send me a copy of the report asap. so I dont have to wait for the doctors appointment. of course my thoughts and fears are going beyond ms and into brain tumor because thats the kind of worry wort I am. so now this potentially life changing report is coming in maybe 5 days. everytime I think of opening that mail box and seeing it I get nausea. I guess syking myself into the fear of brain tumor brings the fear of ms down and so finally when I open it I will say "thank god its only ms". I know I know, why should I worry about something that is out of my hands. but I cant help it. after all this waiting. I never thought I would ever hope to find nothing. sorry I am just venting.

Well, I don't know what symptoms you're having, but if your last MRI listed "only" possible demyelination, then I wouldn't worry too much about brain tumors.

I was like you, in that I felt it was better to get a copy of the report before the doctor appointment. I think it's good to see what the report says, so that you can go to the doctor with questions. Still, it can be tough. I remember after my first MRI, I went to the radiology place to pick up the report. I went back to my car and sat there and read it. I read the C-spine first, it was clear, and I thought to myself, "whew, I'm in the clear." Then I forgot I still hadn't read the brain MRI, and let's just say it was a different picture. My heart just sank. Anyway, I can understand your situation.

By the way, is that Henderson, NV?

Call the doctor's office who ordered the MRI and ask for an interpretation of the results over the phone. Tell them you are worrying and that you would like to know the results. Someone should be able to get back with you and answer your concerns. If it were something bad someone from the office would probably already have called you to make an appointment to come in earlier than scheduled. Since they haven't done that, it is most likely not bad news! That is the good thing about not hearing right away! But still, if you are concerned give them a call and request someone get back to you about the MRI

No, I'm on the east coast, so I can't help with a doctor. But I've spent many fun weekends in Vegas. I remember driving through (or by) Henderson the times I drove over from Arizona.
