I second cranberry capsules. My neuro actually recommended them to me, and he's no naturopath.

if you're already taking cranberry and it's not doing the trick, seriously try boosting your selenium. wicked infection fighter.
oil of oregano is antibiotic. i recommend P73 oreganol, in capsules.
so is uva ursi (here's the list of stuff in it: http://www.ars-grin.gov/cgi-bin/duke/farmacy2.pl it's the ursolic acid that's anti-inflammatory/antibiotic)
acidophilus boosts the good guy bacteria. the ones that require refrigeration are best.

Are you SURE you have an infection? Did testing find a definite bacterial infection?

I ask because I frequently have the symptoms of a UTI (a burning sensation upon urination, frequency), but when a lab test is done, no bacteria is found.

Being the "insulin girl" and knowing that insulin is a great irritant, I suspect I have insulin in my urine, but I have been told there is no test for insulin in the urine.

For whatever reason, cranberry does seem to help me.

Just finished 10 day of antibiotics for a UTI. I take a probiotic everyday and will add cranberry to my routine.

LC surely they're lying to you. maybe your lab doesn't do it, but others do?
Diabetologia. 1976 Oct;12(5):523-6.LinksThe excretion of insulin in urine.
El-Allawy RM, Sonne O, Gliemann J, Orskov H, Johansen K.
The concentration of biologically active insulin was measured by the isolated fat cell method in serum and urine from healthy subjects and compared with the concentration of immunoreactive insulin. In both urine and serum the values obtained by the two methods correlated closely; In addition, there was a close correlation between the concentration of biologically active and immunoreactive insulin in urine from maturity onset diabetics. Therefore, conclusions on the excretion in the urine and the urinary clearance of insulin, which are based on measurements of immunoreactive insulin, are also valid for biologically active insulin.

LC do they test for bacteria specifically, or blood in the urine?
every time i got dx'd with a UTI the test was just for blood in the urine and they assumed it was there due to bacterial infection.

ever checked these out LC? there will be blood in the urine, but no bacteria and antibiotics won't work:

(the second item on this page won't apply - can't dx it without excluding neurological disorders, among other things)

They checked me for blood and bacteria. My white count was through the roof and DR gave a standing order for immediate blood work if I developed a fever. I never had a fever that I know of. I got so used to the fever while taking Rebif that I had to actually check every hour or so to tell.

I agree with jimmylegs about the Uva Ursi- it works wonders on UTI's. I do not drink it in a tea, but rather take monster capsules of it and also use cranberry at the same time. Give it a try!
