Update
I'm really sorry for what I'm about to tell everyone right now.
Last night my mother had a very bad relapse and she wasn't responding to us at all. She also had burns all down her torso and her legs and she was wheezing very badly..
I thought I was going to lose her last night and I told her as I was sitting in her line of sight "Mommy, please don't leave me yet, I can't lose you like this, we have to fight for this and I need you, I love you, you can't leave me yet" and she gently squeezed my hand so I knew she heard me. The paramedics came and took her to the emergency room.
We waited till around 3 am they had my gran and I go back and told us that she was holding 1,500 units of urine and she had an extremely bad UTI that spread to her kidneys, the burns were caused the urine that had gotten on her from her diapers and they told us she was also having a very bad asthma attack so she was on a machine for that.
I held her hand and bent over so she could see my face and I just looked into her eyes and smiled, she mouthed the words "I love you I love you".
After we got home at 4am I tried to sleep but ended up staying awake for 2 hours and finally drifting off only to wake an hour later. I called my gran and she said that they transferred her to another hospital and she is not in intensive care and she will get better.
The horrible thing is: We have to put her in a nursing home or hopefully get an in home nurse...Because my gran cannot take proper care of her, she is 70 and has very bad arthritis.
I am trying to look on the bright side, one way or another my mom will finally get the care she needs.
I will try to keep everyone up to date, I'm not a religious person...But...If you prayed for her, I would really appreciate it.

Cassandra, I will keep your mother AND you and your gran in my prayers. Thank you for sharing this situation with us -- we care very much. People can go through difficult times (though this is especially difficult for you and your mother) and emerge with improvements. Perhaps the treatment in the hospital (UTI), a short time in a nursing home, and an in-home nurse will result in a change for the better in your mother's condition. We certainly hope so.

Cassandra,
I am new to this board, but your story is so touching. Your mother is about my age & I have 2 very young children. You will be in my thoughts & I agree with the others that perhaps good nutrition, physical therapy & treatment of infections may improve your mother's condition. I took care of my father & I know it makes you feel very guilty when you have to admit you can't do it any longer. However, we are all only human. We can only take on so much.
Please come back to update us in the future. I hope to hear good news from you

Thanks for all the kind words
She is doing much better, she is talking, the infection is under control and her kidney is fine.
She is very depressed because she can't come home, she will be in rehab for a few months and afterwords we hope to get a nurse who can come in at least twice a week.
Does any have an idea where I can find a dependable, affordable and kind MS specializing in home nurse?
Thank you all again

About finding a nurse... I don't have the perfect answer. I can only make some suggestions -- talk about the need and ask the question everywhere you go and of everyone you know -- friends, coworkers, neighbors, even the professionals you meet during this crisis period with your mother. Maybe your local National MS Society office has a list of names; maybe a social worker at your local hospital has a list; check with your mother's doctor's office; even a nursing school in your area might know of people.
I know you have said that you are not religious, but maybe a church or pastor around you has a parish nurse (as many do in my area), who could offer suggestions. You do not have to be a church member to call and ask. Most will be happy to help you if they can.
I have noticed lately that there are many TV ads for in-home health care services -- if you have the same in your area, perhaps this is something else to check out.
I was glad to hear the good report on your mother's condition; all the best to you in this latest search for an in-home nurse. You are very capable, Cassandra. I know you will be able to deal with this situation, too.

Update!
Hello everyone!
I know last time I updated it was under very bad circumstances, but I am back to let everyone know that my mommy has been in the rehab unit since my last update, she went back to the hospital twice for Pneumonia in her left lung and because of the urine burns. Those are now healed and she is almost finished with her pneumonia medication. I took pictures today and though she does not look good at ALL, it is only because she had just taken her medication. it is on my myspace so I will provide the link at he end of this message, first I would like to do my update.
She has been very talkative and has been doing her physical therapy every single morning, she eats around 90-100% of every meal. and...the BEST thing so far is, the phys ther has loosened her legs and she can now sit in a wheelchair with the help of a lift to get her in it, and a neck brace to keep her neck from falling to the side. for the first time in 2 years my mommy can sit up! I am ecstatic! ok so let me explain the pics I will now link you to. We visited her today and she had JUST taken her pain medication and was very out of it. She looks like she is crying in some pics while my Grandmother and I are laughing but she is in fact laughing as well, just VERY tired and unable to really smile so we are NOT evilly laughing and attacking my mommy LOL!
Enjoy!!!

Cassie, I hope you realize how much I appreciate the updates on your mother. I am encouraged by her progress and think that the level achieved by Terry Wahls (in the link earlier in this thread) is possible for all of us.
I look forward to your continued updates, I keep you in my thoughts and prayers, and wish you courage.

Thank you so much I know you've been here since I first posted I will always remember to update everyone on how my mommy is doing. I am so proud of her and her progress, she is fighting for me and my grandmother and herself and she is so strong and determined. When she is able to sit in a wheelchair for long amounts of time, My boyfriend and I are going to take her to Disneyland I cannot wait for that day. My mom and I used to go to Disneyland every single summer and we stopped when I turned 11 when my grandfather died and she went into a depression. I wish to go back to how we once were and I believe that someday we can We all can

Cassandra
thanks for posting the pics. I often wondered how your Mum was doing. She looks younger in the recent pics than the first ones! I know you're saying she had just taken her meds, but it is such an achievement for her that she's got some of the flexibility back in her legs, when you think about how constricted she'd got.
You and your Mum are in my thoughts and hope you get a day out with her soon.

Update
Hello everyone!
OK time for an update, sorry it's so late, been very busy lately.
My mom is doing very well right now. She had come home for awhile but now is back in the rehab center and we have decided to keep her there so she can get the proper care she needs, right now she is in a multiple patient room but we are looking into getting her one with less or no people. She is eating 100% of all food given to her and she is very talkative, I am able to visit twice a week, when I get my license and my boyfriend buys another car I will be visiting more. Here are 2 pictures from my last 2 visits.
I'll keep updating : )!
Take care all!
